Abstract: A plow (152) is inserted between first major and minor flaps (14, 17) as a case (12) is slid on parallel slide bars (1 10, 1 12). Thereafter, the case (12) is unfolded by moving a securement device (120) in a linear direction perpendicular to the fold lines between the first major and minor flaps (14, 17) and the first end panel (18), with the case (12) located between parallel locators (130, 132). Pushers (154, 156) push the first and second major flaps (14) and the second minor flap (16) outwardly. The first and second major flaps slide in channels (26) in a queuing guide (22) and a transport guide (48) aligned with the queuing guide (22). The transport guide (48) can be moved forward to receive a funnel (80) in a load position and can be moved rearward to a hand-off position where the transport guide (48) can be pivoted to a horizontal position. The minor flaps (16, 17) are controlled by sliding on an end slide (32) intermediate and parallel to the channels (26) in the queuing guide (22) and by being sandwiched in a deflector (68) and between clamping plates (62) pivotally mounted to the channels (26) in the transport guide (48).

Abstract: Vascular conditions are detected non-invasively in the human body using a collection of pressure wave/motion stimulation information from small local regions of the vasculature. An array of accelerometers or other sensors are attached to the head or other points of interest of a patient and blood flow sounds are recorded. Vibration signatures of vessel structures such as branches, aneurysms, stenosis, etc. using random, periodic, band limited or transient analysis provides a library for further processing. The signature library is used to localize the origin of the recognized vascular feature, and the localized feature is presented to the physician in a clinically relevant manner.

Abstract: A liquid-crystal display screen comprises a backing layer (17) acting as a light guide for activating light; a liquid-crystal layer (29 containing cells which when suitably addressed allow light to pass from the backing layer through the cell: and an emitting layer containing phosphor-type elements (35, 37, 39) corresponding to the cells, for emitting display light when activating light reaches them. For reducing crosstalk and increasing output there are means (47; 49; 77, 81; 87; 87a) for collimating the activating light towards the phosphor-type elements. The invention allows a variety of configurations to be used, such as birefringent LC displays with side-lighting, and FE liquid crystals in scattering mode. FE LC displays can be produced having a grey scale, using part-time addressing and phosphor persistence.

Abstract: NAIL GUIDE AND SET A tool for countersinking nails into a workpiece has a base member, which is formed of resilient material, and has a generally flat bottom section resting on the workpiece. A metal guide is mounted in the base member. The guide has a central opening for receiving a nail in its bottom. A rigid cap member on the base above the guide has an aperture through it, and a nail set extends partially upward out of the aperture in the cap and extends into the opening in the guide above the nail for transmitting impact from a hammer on the nail. The bottom of the guide member is recessed from the bottom surface of the base so that the metal will not contact the workpiece. The cap has a greater diameter than the guide so that if the cap is struck when the bottom or the nail set is below the top of the workpiece, an impact on the cap is not transmitted to the guide but will be absorbed in the resilient material of the base. A nail starting section integral with the base member extends laterally outward. It contains starting holes that grip nails initially. A slot extends from each opening to a larger opening, and the tool can be pulled over a nail until the nail is in the larger opening where it can be removed from the nail.
