    Abstract: Methods and systems for providing multiple versions of an application in a social network are described. In some aspects, a first version of the application provides a first set of features while a second version of the application provides the first set of features and also a second set of features. Both the first version of the application and the second version of the application access the same application state data, which may be maintained by a back-end system, such as a social network. When the state data is updated by one or the other versions of the application, a notification may be provided to the other version of the application informing it of the update. The application state data may represent, for example, a shared gaming environment accessed by both the first and second versions of the application.

    Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure involve a system comprising a computer-readable storage medium storing at least one program, method, and user interfaces to facilitate communication between users via multiple modes of electronic communication. The system displays a conversation view that presents messages exchanged between a first user and at least one other user in an electronic chat conversation. The conversation view includes an interactive element to enable the first user to initiate a video call with the at least one other user. Based on receiving user input corresponding to an interaction with the interactive element, the system initiates the video call with the at least one other user. The system displays an active call view to facilitate the video call with the at least one other user. The system toggles from displaying the active call view to displaying the conversation view in response to further user input.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for modifying an image. For example, a messaging application implemented on a client device displays an image comprising a real-world object and determines a current location of the client device. The messaging application identifies a venue associated with the current location of the client device and obtains a list of items available for purchase at the venue. The messaging application receives input that selects a given item from the list of items that corresponds to the real-world object. The messaging application adds, to the image, a graphical representation of the given item that corresponds to the real-world object depicted in the image.

    Abstract: Methods and systems are disclosed for presenting profile pages. For example, a messaging application implemented on a client device receives a request to access a page of the messaging application and identifies a first web-based application that is linked to the page of the messaging application. The messaging application obtains a first application fragment corresponding to the first web-based application and identifies a data field of the first application fragment that corresponds to information being presented on the page of the messaging application. The messaging application populates the data field of the first application fragment by sending a message from the messaging application to the first web-based application. The messaging application adds, to the page of the messaging application, a visual representation of the first application fragment comprising the populated data field.
