    Abstract: PURPOSE:To provide a method for manufacturing a biaxially oriented polyester film for obtaining a film which reduces the bowing phenomenon and has uniform physical properties in the width direction. CONSTITUTION:In the manufacture of a polyester film oriented at least in the lateral direction, a cooling process in which the film is cooled at its glass transition temperature or below is arranged after a laterally stretching process with a tenter and before a heat treatment process. In the heat treatment process, the rate of temperature increase of the film is adjusted at 1000 deg.C/sec or more.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a reflecting plate base for surface light source that can obtain a bright. screen at high reflectance. CONSTITUTION:Expressions G1 =0.05, G3/G1>=0.05 are satisfied where G1 is glossiness of incident angle 60 deg.-light receiving angle 60 deg., G2 is glossiness of incident angle 60 deg.-light. receiving angle 45 deg., and G3 is glossiness of incident angle 60 deg.-light receiving angle 75 deg., and average reflectance in the wavelength region of the light of 400nm-700nm is not less than 90%. Since the glossiness is low, while scattering reflecting component is strong and the reflectance of the whole light is increased, a bright and clear screen of brightness higher than ever is obtained, when used as a reflecting plate 11 of a side-light type surface emitter.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a film which is excellent in thermal dimensional stability and has high cushioning properties and whiteness by a method wherein the heat shrinkage, the specific gravity and the shape factor of non-compatible polymer dispersed in polyester are set within the specified range. CONSTITUTION:Of the polyester film concerned, its heat shrinkage factor at 150 deg.C is set to be below 2 % and its specific gravity is set to be 0.95 or below. Further, non-compatible polymer is dispersedly mixed in the polyester film and the preferable shape factor of the non-compatible polymer in the film is 1- 4. Furthermore, the preferable color tone b-value measured with the color difference meter is -3 or below. The effect for reducing the specific gravity of the film is obtained by adding specific gravity reducing agent such as polyeth ylene glycol or the like to polyester. Further, the non-compatible polymer is polymer, which is selected from the group consisting of methyl butene polymer, methyl pentene polymer, styrene-based polymer, fluorine-based polymer, cellulose acetate polymer and cellulose propionate polymer, and which has a melting point of 200 deg.C or higher.

    Abstract: PURPOSE:To obtain a white polyester film having a small apparent density, and excellent elongation strength and elastic recovery by incorporating at least a white polyester layer in the film and specifying the apparent density, and strength and elastic recovery rate at a predetermined position. CONSTITUTION:At least white polyester layer is incorporated, 0.5 to less than 1.0g/cm of apparent density, 3kg/cm or more of longitudinal 2% elongation strength and 60% or more of elastic recovery rate at the time of 2% elongation are provided. Here, the apparent density is desirably 0.6 to less than 0.95g/cm , more desirably 0.7 to less than 0.9g/cm . A longitudinal 2% elongation strength is desirably 3.5kg/mm or more. A longitudinal elastic recovery rate at the time of 2% elongation is desirably 70% or more. Thus, a white polyester film having small apparent density and excellent in elongation strength and in elastic recovery is obtained.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a film of which the quality is high, and of which the physical property does not have unevenness in the width direction by constituting the manufacturing process of a process simultaneously containing a drawing process in the width direction of the film, and a relaxation process in the longitudinal direction. SOLUTION: A molecular orientation is imparted to the film by applying a drawing in the width direction to a film, and at the same time, a relaxation process is simultaneously applied at the latter stage of the drawing process. The relaxation treatment process is performed in such a manner that the drawing in the width direction is approx. 70% or higher based on the total drawing magnification, and a final drawing is performed while the relaxation treatment is performed in the longitudinal direction. As a drawing machine wherein the directions for the drawing and the relaxation, and in addition, the drawing magnification and the relaxation rate can be freely changed, a simultaneous biaxial drawing machine of a linear motor driving system is used. Also, the film which is introduced into a tenter is placed under an optical orientation and crystalization. By this constitution, a film wherein characteristics such as a refraction factor in the width direction and mechanical characteristics, and thermal characteristics are uniform, and there is no unevenness in the physical property when any section in the width direction is taken as a sample, can be manufactured.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly satisfy smoothness and slipperiness requirements of a biaxially oriented film with good productivity by incorporating protrusions each having a height of a specific range and a mean diameter of a specific range at least on one side surface. SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented film comprises protrusions each having a height of 0.05 to 1 μm and a mean diameter of 50 to 500 μm. The protrusions are each desirably formed of a resin forming the film. In the case of forming the protrusions by using particles, the film is used as a recording medium. If the film is fed in a machine, a surface of the film is scraped, and a problem of falling-off of the particles is apt to arise, but if the protrusions are formed of the resin itself, such a phenomenon of falling-off scarcely occurs. As a means for forming the protrusions made of the resin forming the film, its surface is transferred by a roll having recesses on its surface, and then biaxially oriented to form the protrusions.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide both excellent productivity and quality by casting a thermoplastic resin sheet extruded from a mouthpiece while sandwiching the sheet between a roll and a cooling medium existing a DC potential difference. SOLUTION: A raw material such as a liquid crystal polymer obtained by adding to blend a polyethylene terephthalate resin or another compound, another polyester resin or the like is dried, dehydrated, then supplied to a melt extruder such as a monoaxial extruder, a biaxial extruder or the like, and melt extruded in a nitrogen flow or in vacuum so as not to lower its molecular weight and its intrinsic viscosity. A melt sheet extruded from a mouthpiece 1 by the melt polyester resin is cast to be sandwiched between a roll 2 applied by a predetermined voltage and a casting drum 6, brought into close contact with a drum of a cooling medium, quenched, cast at a high speed with a stably strong close contact force, and the obtained cast sheet 1 is oriented as needed. Thus, the casting speed can be accelerated, and the high quality sheet 7 can be manufactured with good productivity.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain, at a high speed, a thermoplastic resin sheet with both excellent productivity and quality by using a freely rotating roll as an electrified roll in a method for preparing the thermoplastic resin sheet wherein after a thermoplastic resin is melted, a molten sheet is extruded from a nozzle and it is cooled and solidified while it is placed between the electrified roll and a cooling medium. SOLUTION: A molten thermoplastic resin sheet is cast while it is placed between a freely rotating electrified roll and a cooling medium. It is possible thereby to provide a large electric charge density (an electric current) by a relatively low electric voltage to the molten resin sheet as the electric charge is directly provided to the sheet without placing air. Therefore, it is brought into strongly intimate contact with the cooling medium to improve high speed adhesive properties and uniformity of thickness. In this case, as the thermoplastic resin, especially polyester resins and polyamide resins are pref. In addition, electrostatic charging effectively acts in a case where resistivity during the resin is melted is large, at least 108 Ωcm. In addition, thickness fluctuation is generated on the resin sheet when rotational torque of the electrified roll is 300 g or larger.

    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a higher forming speed with a favorable productivity by a method wherein the surface of a roller has a structure through which air can escape, so that no trouble such as the transferring to a sheet surface and accumulation of low molecular substances due to the structure occurs. SOLUTION: This forming roll is to cool a fused polymer extruded in a sheet-like shape through a mouthpiece and form the polymer into a sheet under the state that its surface has minute surface depressions 11, the depth 12 of each of which is 0.05-1 μm. By applying an electrical voltage near the landing of the fused polymer extruded in a sheet on the forming roll, the sheet is brought into close contact with the roll, resulting in being formed into the fused polymer sheet.
