Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filtration module construction having a plurality of filtration cartridges to effect removal of a plurality of cartridges from a manifold.SOLUTION: A purification module 400 is provided comprising a plurality of purification cartridges 406, a support 402 for the cartridges, a manifold 422 and a bowl 424. The support for the cartridges has two pitched partial screw threads 416 on opposing surfaces which mate with pitched screw flights on the manifold when the partial screw threads are rotated into the screw flights. The support includes fluid passageways for directing filtered fluid from the filtration cartridges, through the support and into the manifold, and seals the support outlet at the manifold.

Abstract: A filtering apparatus and method comprises parallel filtering elements backflushable with the pressure of the filtered flow. At least one washing organ connecting alternately to the different filtering elements, forms a discharge channel for the washing flow. A freewheel clutch is connected to a rotating axle of the washing organ, converting reciprocating movement generated with the pressure of flow in the filtering apparatus and with pressure alternating with it into a continuously parallel, stepping rotary movement of the washing organ. The mechanism containing the clutch may be outside the filtering room of the apparatus, and based on the alternation of the higher pressure of the flow filtered in the apparatus and the lower pressure from the discharge channel. The freewheel clutch is articulated to a piston in the cylinder, and is moved back and forth with the pressure difference, controlled by the channels relaying the pressure and by the valves.

Abstract: A backflushable filtering apparatus for fuel or luboil filter of a motor includes inlet and outlet flow channels, parallel filtering elements open from their ends, in which infiltration occurs from through their jackets, and washing organs at different ends of the filtering elements, the organs connecting alternately to different ends of the filtering elements to provide discharge channels for the backflushing of elements generated by the pressure of the filtered flow. Each of the filtering elements is divided in two by a solid partition or constriction between its ends so that the connected washing organ generates backflushing only to a part of the element length at a time. The parts of the filtering element are functionally independent, and the one part may be backflushed at the same time as the filtering goes on in the other part.

Abstract: The invention relates to a backwash filter (10) which can be backwashed with the liquid to be filtered. The filter according to the invention has a plurality of filter elements (25) arranged in the filter housing (11) and through which flow passes, the arrangement being such that in the filtration operation dirty liquid flows equally through the two ends (26, 27) of the filter elements and in the backwash operation the filter elements are joined at one end to a wash element (33) and are connected at their other end (26), preferably with intermediate connection of a throttle element (45 and 46), to the dirty liquid feed (14). By this means, in addition to high filtration efficiency with low pressure drops, particularly effective backwashing of the individual filter elements is achieved and their blockage is reliably avoided.

Abstract: A repeatably rejuvenating filtration system of the pneumatic hydro-pulse type is disclosed as including the feeding of a solid/fluid feed slurry to be filtered into operative engagement with the interior porous wall surfaces of a plurality of open ended tubular filter elements so that filtrate passes outwardly through the walls of the filter elements and the solids are collected as a cake on the interior wall surface. The cake of solids on the interior wall surface is subjected to an axial discharge fluid flow through the interior of the filter elements along the length of the cake for removal of the cake axially along the interior of the filter elements. The system includes an arrangement for providing a pressure actuated pulse of fluid that may operate through the cylindrical walls toward the axial bore of the filter tubes to dislodge the filtered material, and may operate substantially simultaneously with the axial discharge flow for conducting the dislodged filtered material from the open ended bores. The versatility of the system enables the use of a recirculating arrangement that is effective to concentrate the solids content and control the thickness of the cake deposit.
