Abstract:
A pressure filter comprises an essentially cylindrical container, several filter elements arranged in parallel inside the housing, and a rotor, which has a rotor shaft rotatably mounted in the housing and several rotor elements secured to the rotor shaft so as to remain fixed during rotation and arranged individually between two adjacent filter elements. The surfaces of the rotor elements can be pressed against the filter elements to mechanically compress the filter cakes formed on the filter elements. The axis of the container is vertical. The filter elements and the rotor elements have mutually concentric cylindrical bodies. The rotor elements penetrate into the spaces between the filter elements and are attached to a support arrangement connected to the rotor shaft, while the filter elements are supported in the container on a supporting grate.

Date Dec. 29, 1988.A disk filter, including a plurality of rotatable, axially spaced annular filter disks (6:1-6:11) adapted to be partially immersed in a liquid or a suspension which is to be filtered. Each filter disk comprises a plurality of filter elements 6:1a-f . . . 6:11a-f) which are in communication with axial filtrate conduits (2a-2l) arranged at the outer peripheries of the annular disks for discharge of filtrate. For increasing the flow speed of the filtrate in the axial filtrate conduits these slope downwards in the flow direction. This has been achieved in that a filter element (6:1a) of a filter disk (6:1b) is displaced relative to the filter element (6:2a) of the filter disk (6:2) connected to the same filtrate conduit (2a) and being the following filter disk, counted in the flow direction in the axial filtrate conduit, so that the first mentioned filter element is in advance of the later mentioned filter element, as counted in the direction of rotation.

Abstract:
Abstract:
A liquid filtering apparatus for use in, for example, storm water overflows of sewage systems. A cylindrical liquid permeable screen is supported in a housing so as to obstruct the passage of solids of greater than a predetermined size from an inlet of the housing to an outlet of the housing. The screen is rotable about a horizontal axis and its interior is drained by the outlet from the housing. The exterior of the body is at least partially submerged by the liquid to be filtered, and the body supports internal vanes arranged such that it is driven in rotation by the filtered liquid. The interior of the body is partitioned by the vanes into a series of sections arranged relative to the outlet such that for any given rotational position of the body liquid is retained in at least one of the submerged sections as a result of one or more of the vanes preventing liquid flowing from that section to the outlet. The weight of liquid retained by the vanes applies a torque to the body to cause it to rotate.
Abstract:
Filter apparatus for filtering contaminants from a fluid, such as machine tool coolant, are disclosed. One filter apparatus includes a filter drum unit (160) having a generally cylindrical open perforated support plate (170) with a cylindrical screen element (172) mounted thereabout. Circumference varying mechanisms, such as turnbuckles (174), are connected relative to the support plate (170) to vary the circumference of the support plate (170) and the tautness of the screen element (172). A disc filter assembly (24') having a mandrel (100) and fluidly attached annular disc filter elements (88') is also described. Each annular disc filter element (260) has an inner structure (252) with concentric ribs (274) forming concentric grooves (270) therebetween which are connected to radially extending grooves (282). Each disc filter element (300) has a rectangular inner structure (302) which is pleated or folded in an accordion-like fashion.
Abstract:
A filtering plant has a reactor that causes sludge previously treated with chemicals to flocculate. The reactor is provided with stirring means and at least two rotary filtering rollers. The essential characteristic of the invention is that the first filtering roller (4) is linked to conveyor means for the previously treated sludge that leaves the reactor (II), whereas the second filtering roller (5) is laterally offset below the first filtering roller (4). A descending chute (7) is arranged between the filtering rollers (4, 5). The front filtering roller (5) actuates sludge pressing means.
Abstract:
An apparatus for filtering liquids, such as fiber suspensions or polluted water, includes a hollow rotating filter body (1) adapted to receive the liquid to be filtered within the body. A plurality of guide members (6) are attached to the filter body and distributed around the latter to receive cloudy filtrate penetrating the filter body at the descending side. A basin (12) is arranged at the descending side of the filter body to collect cloudy filtrate poured from the guide members. As a result, the cloudy filtrate is prevented from mixing with the clear filtrate.
Abstract:
An anti-rewet deck is provided for press rolls (3) used to increase consistency of fibrous pulp sluryy from approximately 4 percent up to about 30 to 50 percent. This is accomplished by biasing the location of the drainage holes (140) in the roll shell to the forward edge of the drainage compartments within the roll shell. To avoid the necessity for handing of the rolls, a mechanism is provided for accomplishing the purposes of minimizing rewet at practical production rates by providing baffle plates (175, 177) which effectively orient the draining pattern in the desired direction. Such baffles can be permanently or removably installed once the desired handing of the rolls is determined.
