Abstract:
A method for injecting a chemical barrier into a surface aperture is provided. The method provides a vacuum to a work site to evacuate the air from the work site. Then, an injector head is located and retained at the work site. The injector head has a gasket that forms a seal around the work site. Pressurized fluid is conveyed to the work site through a first conduit in the injector head. Any unused fluid is conveyed away from the work site by a second conduit in the injector head.
Abstract:
Adhesive is applied in a ring-shaped pattern to a surface of a jacket to enable a closure to be secured to the jacket. The jacket is held stationary, and a nozzle of an adhesive applicator is rotated to apply the adhesive. The nozzle is adjustable transversely of its axis of rotation to vary the distance between the nozzle and the jacket.
Abstract:
A container wherein exposed surfaces thereof which are particularly subjected to a chemical reaction, such as corrosion, are protected by the application of a thixotropic lacquer. A typical installation is the application of a band of thixotropic lacquer internally of the container along the longitudinal side seam. A thixotropic lacquer has the characteristic that there is very little flow after its application to a surface, and thus is particularly adapted for covering raw edges and like exposed areas of containers. The thixotropic lacquer is applied preferably in plural closely adjacent streams which unite after the lacquer engages the container surface. Beneficial results are obtained by adjusting the temperature of the container and/or lacquer, and further by heating the applied band of lacquer.
Abstract:
A frusto-conical trowel made up of a plurality of overlapping arcuate leaves includes an inflatable member within the trowel to bear against the leaves and urge them outwardly with a substantially uniform force against coating material being applied to the inside surface of a pipe.
Abstract:
This disclosure depicts method and apparatus for applying a coating of phosphor or other CRT screen material to the concave inside surface of a curved skirtless cathode ray tube front panel. A panel is conveyed with its concave surface facing upwardly along a predetermined path through a liquid curtain of the coating material. The path along which the panel is conveyed is caused to have a curvature through the curtain which is so related to the curvature of the panel as to produce a high degree of uniformity in the coating received by the panel.
