Abstract:
The present invention relates to a sheet (1, 2) of absorbent paper, in particular made of cellulose cotton and of a specific surface weight between 10 and 40 g/m2, comprising a first embossed zone such as is provided by embossing between an undeforming cylinder (A12) fitted with protrusions and a cylinder fitted with a resilient cladding (C) in such manner that the sheet (1, 2) comprises on one side in particular frustoconical salients (120, 110) of which the tops are situated substantially in one plane. The salients (110, 120) corresponding to recesses on the opposite side, the sheet being characterized in that the first embossed zone (110) constitutes a background base pattern of which the number of salients of height H1 relative to the plane is greater than 30 per cm2, and in that it comprises at least a second pattern (G) constituted of salient-free zones of which the height H2 relative to the plane is greater than H1. The invention furthermore concerns the manufacture of such a sheet and to apparatus designed to implement the method.

Abstract:
The invention relates to an absorbent paper product, such as a napkin or tissue, including at least two tissue paper plies which are superposed and joined, cut or precut into a desired format and connected to one another at least over a segment of a peripheral zone. The plies are joined along the segment by marking patterns without resort to glueing and at least one ply is fitted with embossing patterns in a central zone. The invention applies to sanitary and household papers, in particular disposable napkins and tissues.
Abstract:
Adhesive is applied to a web by way of a printing plate and reverse enclosed doctor blade so as to apply the adhesive in selected locations thereby minimizing the amount of adhesive applied in order to decrease the stiffness of the resultant multi-ply web. The amount of adhesive build up on the embossing rolls due to the adhesive bleeding through the web material is minimized and the embossing rolls are permitted to clean themselves in that the adhesive application is carried out so that adhesive is not applied to the web material adjacent portions of the embossing roll on successive rotations of the roll. By doing so, portions of the backup roll which support the web where adhesive was previously applied are permitted to selfclean by allowing the adhesive which has bled through the web and collected on the backup roll to dry and flake off prior to adhesive again being applied to the web adjacent such region.
Abstract:
An embossed paper laminate having two laminae. The laminae are embossed so that each embossed site of one lamina is adhesively joined to the nonembossed region of the other lamina. The laminate is made by two close tolerance pattern rolls juxtaposed to form a nip. Each pattern roll has radially extending protuberances which contact the periphery of the other pattern roll intermediate its protuberances. The laminae are fed through the nip in face-to-face relationship and are embossed and adhesively joined to the other lamina by the radially extending protuberances.
Abstract:
Absorbent paper sheets in multi-ply web form in which the outer webs of the sheet are creped and consist of a series of ribs and grooves. The webs have their ribs secured together by adhesive dispersed in a pattern consisting of individual adhesive zones. The adhesive zones are obtained by providing in embossing apparatus cooperable rolls each having alternating ribs and grooves, the ribs of one roll being provided with protuberances and the other with recesses. The protuberances cover a relatively small area of the total rib area and carry a web on the protuberances through an adhesive applicator so that a relatively small area of the web receives adhesive for attachment to a second web.
Abstract:
MULTI-PLY CREPED CELLULOSE WADDING MATERIAL USEFUL IN SHEET FORM AS A PAPER TISSUE TOWELING AND THE LIKE. THE MULTI-PLLY WADDING MATERIAL STRUCTURE INCLUDES LANDS AND RECESS AREAS EMBBOSSED INTO OUTER WEBS OF THE SHEET. IN TWO-PLY TOWELLING MATERIAL INTERNAL LANDS OF ONE PLY EXTEND TRANSVERSELY INTO INTERNAL LANDS OF THE OTHER AND THE TWO PLIES ARE SECURED TOGETHER AT SPACED CROSS-OVER ZONES OF THE LANDS. THE LANDS BRIDGE RECESS AREAS AND LIMIT SHEET
EXTENSION IN THE WET AND DRY STATE OF THE SHEET. ADDITIONAL WADDING PLIES MAY BE PROVIDED BETWEEN THE OUTER EMBOSSED PLIES. THE OUTER WEBS ARE EMBOSSED PRIOR TO LAMINATION IN A STEEL NIP, FOR EXAMPLE, AND ARE UNITED INTO A SHEET STRUCTURE IN THE STEEL TO STEEL NIP.
Abstract:
The embossing device (1) comprises three embossing rollers (5, 7, 9), each co-acting with a pressure roller (11, 15, 19), to emboss a plurality of paper plies (V1, V2, V3). Two em- bossing rollers can be easily interchanged to switch from a nested configuration to a tip- to-tip configuration, or to switch from one type of patter to another. A lamination roller and a glue dispenser are arranged around one of the embossing rollers.
Abstract:
The embossing unit comprises in combination: a first support for a first embossing roller (7) and a second support for a first pressure roller (11), cooperating with the first embossing roller (7). The second support (9) presents two seats (9A, 9B) to receive and support the first pressure roller (11) in two different positions with respect to this support. The embossing unit also comprises a third support (19) for a second embossing roller (17). The third support can take at least two different operating positions. A fourth support (33) is provided to support a second pressure roller (35) suitable to cooperate with the second embossing roller (17) and suitable to take at least an operating position and an idle position. Finally, there is provided a fifth support (51) with a double seat to receive and support in two different positions alternatively a marrying roll or the second pressure roller (33).
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a hygiene product, comprising the steps of providing at least a first web (1) and a second web (2), pre-treating the first web and/or the second web, embossing the first web with a decor embossing pattern in a first decor embossing zone (38) comprising a decor embossing roll (34), and laminating together the first web and the second web in a lamination zone (30), the lamination zone being defined between the decor embossing roll and a lamination roll (36), wherein the decor embossing roll and the lamination roll have a generally- equal surface hardness.
