Abstract:
A stretch releasing adhesive tape is disclosed comprising a pull tab comprising a single tab film which is adhered to both adhesive surfaces of the stretch releasing adhesive tape. The pull tab is foldable so as to comprise an unobtrusive visual appearance, and may also be extendable so that the pull tab may be grasped to activate the stretch release.
Abstract:
A stretch releasable adhesive strip includes an extensible backing layer including a first adhesive region and a flexible support layer attached to the backing layer adjacent the first adhesive region that includes a second adhesive region of a repositionable pressure sensitive adhesive. To make the adhesive strip easier to handle and write on, the support layer is stiffer than the backing layer.
Abstract:
A tape laminate (10) adapted to support or locate an object along a substrate. The tape laminate (10) comprises a support layer of strong, flexible, conformable, essentially non stretchable material having firmly attached thereto an attachment strip (12) comprising a layer of stretch release adhesive (14) defining an exposed major surface that is adapted to adhere the attachment strip (12) to the substrate. In one embodiment, consisting only of the conformable support layer and the attachment strip (12), the tape laminate (10) can be used to support or locate an object (18) along a substrate (e.g., along a vertical wall) (19) by conforming the tape laminate (10) to the contour of portions of the object (18) and of the wall (19) and adhering a part of the layer of stretch release adhesive (14) to each of those portions. In other embodiments, the tape laminate (10) further includes means such as separable fasteners, twist ties, cable ties, elastic bands, or hooks for facilitating engagement of objects to be supported or located by the tape laminate.
Abstract:
A stretch releasing adhesive tape article includes an elongate length of stretch releasing adhesive tape and a segmented liner arranged on the adhesive that can be used to form a manually engageable pull tab at a selected location on a discrete strip of tape cut from the length of tape. Each segment of the liner can be individually removed from the tape. The segmented liner allows the adhesive tape to be made in any length and wound upon itself to form a roll, and allows a user to cut a strip having a selected length depending on the end use application for the strip, and further allows the user to form a manually engageable non-adhesive pull tab at any location on the strip which can be grasped and pulled by a user to stretch remove the tape from a substrate.

Abstract:
A stretch releasing adhesive article for removably adhesively bonding an object to a surface includes a stretch release adhesive strip and a secondary release member. The stretch release adhesive strip includes a first adhesive end portion having oppositely facing major surfaces arranged to adhesively bond with the object and the surface and includes a non-adhesive tab portion. The secondary release member includes oppositely facing adhesive major surfaces having temporary or repositionable adhesive which allows the adhesive article to be repositioned on the surface and object prior to adhesively bonding the stretch release adhesive strip to the surface and object. The adhesive strength of the secondary release member is sufficient to maintain the secondary release member in adhesive contact with the object and surface when the stretch release adhesive strip is stretched during the removal process. After the stretch release adhesive strip is removed from the object and surface, the secondary release member can be removed from the surface by gently peeling or twisting the secondary release member from the surface.
Abstract:
An abrasive article adapted for removable adhesive bonding on a support surface, such as a wall, includes a base member and a stretch release adhesive tape strip. The adhesive tape strip is a sequential release-type adhesive strip having a non-adhesive end portion which allows the base member to release from the adhesive strip during the removal process while the adhesive strip remains adhered to the support surface, therefore reducing the incidence of unwanted catapulting. To prevent relative movement between the base member and the adhesive strip during the removal process and therefore increase the likelihood of successful controlled sequential release of the base member, the base member includes a stabilizer arranged to abut the adhesive strip if the base member shifts as the adhesive strip is stretched during removal. The stabilizer can be a generally rigid projection or a compressible stop member which extends outwardly from the end of the base member adjacent the end of the adhesive strip.

The invention provides a wheel weight/tape article (3) that can be used to balance a wheel (44), wherein the article (3) does not leave adhesive residue on the wheel (44) upon removal. Also provided is a method of using the article (3) to balance a wheel (44).
Abstract:
A tape laminate comprising an internally separable layer having first and second opposite major anchor surfaces, which separable layer has an internal static shear strength in a direction parallel to its anchor surfaces that allows it to support a significant weight (e.g., at least 6 pounds per square inch), and has an internal dynamic tensile strength in a direction generally normal to its anchor surfaces of no greater than 40 pounds per square inch. The major anchor surfaces of the separable layer are bonded to the opposed surfaces of objects (which bonding can be done with strips of stretch release adhesive) so that the laminate can support one object from the other against a static force generally parallel to said anchor surfaces of at least 6 pounds per square inch, whereas the separable layer can be internally separated by a dynamic separating force normal to said anchor surfaces of no greater than about 40 pounds per square inch to separate the objects.
Abstract:
Optically clear stretch releasing pressure sensitive adhesive films containing a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition and a tacky tab are provided. The pressure sensitive adhesive compositions are formed from elastomeric silicone polymer selected from the group consisting of urea-based silicone copolymers, oxamide-based silicone copolymers, amide-based silicone copolymers, urethane-based silicone copolymers, polydiorganosiloxane polymers, or mixtures of these copolymers. The pressure sensitive adhesive compositions may also contain an MQ tackifying resin. The pressure sensitive adhesive compositions may be used to form adhesive articles.
