Abstract: A steel cord which has no production problem noted in the related art and which can be produced efficiently with stable quality, particularly a steel cord useful for the purpose of reinforcing a tire crown portion, as well as a composite of rubber and steel cord and a tire, which include the steel cord, are provided.A steel cord has a multi-twist structure in which N (N=2 to 8) strands 2 are twisted, each strand 2 being formed by twisting a plurality of element wires 1 and having a substantially elliptical cross-section, wherein d1/d2>1.08 is satisfied, where the major diameter of the strand 2 is represented by d1 and the minor diameter is represented by d2, and εc defined by the following equation: εc=√{square root over ( )}(−b/2+√{square root over ( )}(b2/4−c))−1 (in the equation, b represents −1+π2(−4R2+d2)/P2, c represents π2d2k(4π2R2+P2)/P4, R represents (D−d)/2, k represents tan2(π/2−π/N), and d represents (d1+d2)/2) satisfies εc>0.005, where the diameter of a circle circumscribing the cord is represented by D (mm) and the twist pitch of the cord is represented by P (mm).

Abstract: A radially compressive rope assembly is provided for enabling controlled descent from altitude. The radially compressive rope assembly is comprised of a load-bearing rope core surrounded by a flexible, compressible mantle, capable of recovery after deformation thereof. The flexible, compressible mantle is covered by a flexible sheath, disposed adjacent the outer perimeter of the mantle, which allows a user to slide easily against the sheath down the radially compressive rope assembly while compressing the mantle material through the sheath during descent, resulting in increasing or descreasing the speed of descent.

Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a steel cord which is a zero-degree belt cord having moderate elongation characteristics following to the expansion in the diametral direction of a tire in a vulcanizing treatment during molding of the tire, reducing the elongation after molding of the tire and suppressing the expansion of the tire in the radial direction during running.

The external tangent line shape S1 of the cord 1 is a nearly elliptical shape in the same direction as the elliptical direction of the strands. The steel cord is characterized as having a structure as follows. The flatness of the strands 2 and steel cord 1 is 1.15-2.70 and the adjacent mutual two wires and the mutual strands contact or approach in both terminal regions in the major axis direction of the strands 2 and steel cord 1 and separate in other regions. The elongation when applying 50 N tensile load is 1.2-3.0%.

Abstract: A braiding apparatus includes a base, a strand supplier supplying a core strand, strand carriers shuttling on the base and providing carrier strands that wrap the core strand and twist together to form a rope, a guiding pulley disposed above the strand carriers to feed the rope to a strand collector, and a control device having a driving source connected to the guiding pulley, at least one recognition unit arranged on the guiding pulley, a sensor disposed relative to the guiding pulley, and a controller electrically connected to the sensor and the driving source. The sensor counts the number of the recognition unit passing the sensor when the guiding pulley rotates to measure lengths of divided sections of the rope. Concurrently, the controller controls the driving source and the guiding pulley to have different rotational speeds, thereby controlling different braid densities of different sections of the same rope precisely.
