Abstract:
A steel cord comprises more than one steel filament (10). At least some of the steel filaments have a zinc iron alloy layer (14) partially covered with a zinc cover (16). The zinc cover is only present in valleys formed in the zinc-iron alloy layer. The processability and adhesion level in rubber products of the stell cord are increased.
Abstract:
An embodiment of a wellbore cable comprises a cable core, at least a first armor wire layer comprising a plurality of strength members and surrounding the cable core, and at least a second armor wire layer comprising a plurality of strength members surrounding the first armor wire layer, the second armor wire layer covering a predetermined percentage of the circumference of the first armor wire layer to prevent torque imbalance in the cable.
Abstract:
A synthetic rope for an elevator having improved resistance to compression and abrasion is provided and comprises a plurality of strands forming layers of the rope, each strand formed from a plurality of pre-twisted strands made from high modulus synthetic filaments. One or more of the strands or layers of strands may be impregnated with a lubricant, such as polytetrafluoroethylene, to reduce the abrasion among the strands and substrands, and increase the service life of the rope. The exterior of the rope may be covered by a jacket that provides for traction with the drive sheave. An elevator system comprising the claimed rope is also provided.
Abstract:
A rope has a rope core formed of load-bearing aramide fiber strands laid parallel to each other in concentric layers of strands and strands of an outermost layer laid with opposite lay to the rope core. As a result of the opposite lay, the torques which occur in the layers of strands when under load cancel each other out and a non-twisting rope structure is achieved. An elastic intersheath is positioned between the oppositely laid layers of strands to protect the strands against abrasion and to transmit the torque over a wide area in the rope.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire comprises a tread reinforcing belt made of metallic cords, each of the metallic cords is made up of six to twelve metallic filaments whose diameter is not less than 0.15 mm but less than 0.25 mm, the six to twelve metallic filaments are grouped into a plurality of bunches each including two to four filaments, the filaments of each bunch are twisted together at a first twisting pitch, the bunches are twisted together into the cord at a final twist pitch Pc of from 10 to 40 mm, the first twisting pitch is more than the final twist pitch, and the bunches each include at least one waved filament which is two-dimensionally waved at wave pitches Pw in a range of from 5 to 30 times the diameter (d) of the filament and a wave height (h) in a range of from 0.2 to 3.0 times the diameter (d).

PCT No. PCT/GB78/00019 Sec. 371 Date June 5, 1979 Sec. 102(e) date June 1, 1979 PCT Filed Oct. 3, 1978 PCT Pub. No. W079/00182 PCT Pub. Date Apr. 19, 1979The invention relates to wire ropes. There is disclosed a wire rope comprising a plurality of strands (4-12) twisted together with each strand (4-12) being individually covered by a respective sheath (16) of rubber or rubber substitute. Each strand (4-12) comprises a plurality of wires (14) twisted together with the direction of twist of at least the outer wires (14) in each strand (4-12) being opposite to the direction of twist of at least the outer wires (14) in the strands (4-12) adjacent to it, the rope having an outer covering sheath (18) of rubber or rubber substitute. In this way, the wires (14) of adjacent strands (4-12) do not cross each other, and stress on them is reduced.
Abstract:
.Iadd.A torque balanced regular lay wire rope having from three to six strands spiraled together such that the angle of lay of the outer wires in each strand is at least two times greater than the angle of lay of the strands in the rope and said rope is in a stress relieved condition..Iaddend.
