    Abstract: A modular tile[100, 600] configured to interlock with multiple tiles to form a modular floor covering over a floor [101, 601]. The tile includes a surface [110, 610] having a periphery defining side walls extending downward from the surface [110, 610], the side walls [122, 622] having a coupling portion [124, 624] configured to couple with other tiles adjacent thereto to form the modular floor covering. The tile [100, 600] also includes a bottom side [112, 612], opposite the surface [110, 610], having a support grid including an array of downward extending post structures in the form of primary post structures [130]. Some of the post structures [130] include at least one resilient end portion [134] with a radial end surface [136] configured to be positioned against the floor [101. 601] to facilitate controlled deflection of the structures.     Abstract: A platform panel or module (10, 66-8, 70, 75, 80, 86) is provided to construct a surface for a deck, floor, wall, ceiling, or roof. The panel or module comprises a decorative top layer (40) integral with or joined to a structural, composite molded platform (30). Each platform panel or module has two complementary module-coupling sides (13, 14) that take advantage of the full width of each joist (4-6) that supports the platform. Also, male and female connecting members (50, 51) are disposed along the module-coupling sides (13, 14) that enable one platform panel or module to be efficiently and positively interlocked with an adjacent panel or module. Each panel or module can be fastened on one side to a single joist (4-6) while being secured on its opposite side to an adjoining panel or module. The panels or modules are also designed to cover over an entire joist substructure (1, 87, 95), including the beginning-of-sequence joist (4) and end-of-sequence joist (5).

    Abstract: A modular surfacing mat that includes a base mat, a top mat secured to the base mat with an adhesive, and a top coat applied to the top of the top mat to form a protective finish. The top coat may be any coating that provides a protective top finish on the mat, and is preferably a polyurea or polyurethane. The top coat may include a colorant. The top mat is preferably at least partially made from rubber. For example, recycled rubber may be used. The adhesive that bonds the top mat to the base mat is preferably a polyurethane or a polyurea. The base mat is preferably made from a cellular foam structure. For example, cellular foam strucutre may be closed cell polyethylene foam nuggets fused together in a crosslinked matrix.
