    Abstract: A compressor driving torque estimating apparatus estimates driving torque of a compressor. The apparatus includes a discharge-side detecting device, an inlet-side detecting device, first and second calculating devices, and an estimated driving torque determining device. The discharge-side detecting device detects discharge-side quantity about fluid discharged from the compressor. The inlet-side detecting device detects inlet-side quantity about fluid drawn into the compressor. The first calculating device calculates first estimated driving torque based on the discharge- and inlet-side quantity. The second calculating device calculates second estimated driving torque based on the discharge-side quantity. The estimated driving torque determining device chooses a smaller value between the first and second estimated driving torque as the driving torque. A compressor driving source control apparatus includes the apparatus. The control apparatus controls an output of a driving source, which provides driving force for the compressor, based on the driving torque.

    Abstract: An apparatus for calculating torque of a variable capacity compressor is provided. The compressor includes a suction chamber, a discharge chamber, a piston to draw coolant from the suction chamber, compress the drawn coolant, and discharge the compressed coolant into the discharge chamber, a clutch to be turned on to transmit driving force from a driving source to the piston so that the piston operates and to be turned off to disconnect the driving force of the driving source from the piston so that the piston stops, and a pressure adjuster to adjust a back pressure introduced from the discharge chamber to the back of the piston and thereby adjust a piston stroke. The apparatus comprises a counter configured to count an OFF time when the clutch is tuned off from an ON state until the clutch is next turned on, a determiner configured to determine whether or not the OFF time is less than a predetermined time, and a start torque calculator configured to calculate a start torque of the compressor depending on the determination of the determiner.

    Abstract: A variable displacement compressor includes a plate having a variable inclination angle, and a piston engaging the plate. The piston reciprocates within a bore of the compressor in accordance with a rotation of the plate, and the piston has a stroke length which is determined by the inclination angle of the plate. The compressor also includes a sensor positioned adjacent to the piston. The sensor generates an output signal when a predetermined portion of the piston is aligned with the sensor. The compressor also includes a processing unit operationally coupled to the sensor. The processing unit estimates the inclination angle of the plate based on the output signal from the sensor.

    Abstract: In order to provide a construction machine by which energy regeneration can be performed reliably and battery and electrical power generator can be miniaturized, a construction machine has an engine, a hydraulic pump driven by the engine, and an actuator driven by discharge oil from the hydraulic pump, and a regenerative motor which rotates by return oil from the actuator is connected to the rotation shaft of the hydraulic pump. The hydraulic pump is driven by the engine and the regenerative motor when drive torque necessary in the hydraulic pump is larger than output torque generated by operation of the regenerative motor. Meanwhile, the hydraulic pump is driven by the regenerative motor when the drive torque of the hydraulic pump is smaller than output torque of the regenerative motor, and an electrical power generator connected to the rotation shaft of the hydraulic pump is operated to generate electricity by excess torque which has not been energy-regenerated in the hydraulic pump so that this generated electrical power is charged in a battery.
