Abstract:
A multimedia file playback method and apparatus where the multimedia file playback method includes: recognizing a face of a viewer to determine an age type of the viewer, where the age type includes an adult type and a juvenile type; obtaining information about a position and length of a sensitive clip in the multimedia file if the determined age type includes a juvenile type; and playing the multimedia file in which the sensitive clip is hidden to the viewer according to the information about the position and length of the sensitive clip in the multimedia file. The multimedia file playback method and apparatus can prevent inappropriate videos, images, and other information from adversely affecting juveniles.
Abstract:
A method of updating age restriction settings for content on a mobile communication terminal, the method comprising requesting authentication data, in response to determining that a first age restriction value associated with a first content on the mobile communication terminal is greater than a first threshold value; and providing the first content via the mobile communication terminal and setting the first threshold value equal to the first age restriction value, in response to determining that the authentication data is valid.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting/receiving a broadcasting signal and a broadcasting receiver are disclosed. A rating region table (RRT) including a rating value identifier identifying rating information is stored, and, when broadcasting contents are received, the rating value identifier is obtained from a descriptor (or service discovery information) including the rating information of the contents. Then, the received broadcasting contents can be blocked according to the rating value identifier obtained from the descriptor and the rating value identifier of the RRT. Accordingly, although the RRT is changed, the broadcasting contents can be conveniently blocked using the unchanged rating value identifier.
Abstract:
Systems having a user interface comprising a filtered view of media available for consumption are disclosed. An embodiment of the present invention may provide a first user with a view that enables consumption of only the available media that matches characteristics of a media filter. The characteristics of the media filter may be specified by a second user, and the second user may define the characteristics of the media filter remotely, via a communication network. The user interface may support separate media filters for each of a number of different users. Filter characteristics such as type of media channel, the language of any dialogue, an industry rating, an overall viewer rating, and the media format may be supported. The media filter characteristics may be applied not only to what is displayed on the user interface, but also the media available for selection via a remote control.
Abstract:
A digital broadcasting system and method of processing data therein are disclosed. A receiving system of the digital broadcasting system includes a baseband processor unit receiving a broadcast signal including mobile service data and main service data, the mobile service data configuring an RS frame, the RS frame including the mobile service data and at least one signaling information data describing rating information of the mobile service data, a management processor unit obtaining the rating information of the mobile service data by parsing the signaling information data from the RS frame, the management processor unit determining a presence or non-presence of a viewing restriction by comparing the obtained rating information of the mobile service data to viewing restriction rating information set by a user, and a presentation processor unit blocking the mobile service data if the viewing restriction of the mobile service data is determined.

Abstract:
A method for controlling viewing a broadcast in a terminal. A terminal having a broadcast control function includes a first replaceable identity device attached to a portion of the terminal and a controller for setting a broadcast viewing level when a second identity device replaces the first identity device, wherein the broadcast viewing level was previously set by the first identity device.

Abstract:
A system and method is provided for use in connection with delivering content that is targeted to users of a broadcast network. In order to select content that is targeted to users of the broadcast network, signals are received from a plurality of customer premise equipment devices (CPEs) of the network users via a broadcast network interface. Based on the received signals, broadcast assets (e.g., programming, advertisements etc.) are selected from a collection of available asset options. Accordingly, at least a portion of the selected assets are inserted into a content stream of the broadcast network. Once the content stream is broadcast over a broadcast network interface, at least a portion of the selected assets area available for receipt by at least a portion of the CPEs. The CPEs generate reports regarding assets delivered such that asset providers can be billed based on guaranteed targeted impressions.
Abstract:
A system and method is provided to dynamically insert content into programming breaks of at least a first programming channel. In order to dynamically insert such content, status information regarding a current status of a programming channel is procured. Based on the status information, a plurality of available insertion options (e.g., assets) may be identified. Using the identified asset options, an asset insertion schedule is developed for least one subsequent programming break of the programming channel. Upon identifying the beginning of the at least one subsequent programming break, the selected assets may be inserted into a content stream (e.g., associated with the programming channel) according to the insertion schedule. Generally, to provide such dynamic insertion, the status of the programming channel may be monitored periodically and/or continuously such that assets that are suited for current network conditions may be selected and inserted into one or more programming breaks.
