Abstract:
In response to a request from a host device using an initial protocol, capability information including information indicative of a plurality of communication protocols is returned to the host device, and a communication protocol, designated by the host device based on the capability information, is set, and print data is received from the host device by the set communication protocol. In a system using an interface connected to various types of devices, e.g., an IEEE 1394 serial bus, a communication protocol, which is used when a host device transfers print data to a printer, is not limited to that unique to the manufacturer of the device.

Abstract:
The present invention selects a channel to be used in facsimile-transmitting image information included in e-mail subjected to relay request in accordance with channel selection information included in said e-mail.
Abstract:
A communication terminal device (F) having an error correction function defined in ITU-T Recommendations T.30. The communication terminal device includes a modem (3) that can transmit data to a remote device in accordance with a plurality of modulation methods and communication speeds. A controller (1) associated with the terminal device (F) changes a current modulation method of the modem (3) to a different modulation method when an all-frame-error is detected predetermined times during data transmission. The controller (1), however, maintains the current modulation method and reduces a communication speed when a frame error other than the all-frame-error is detected prescribed times.
Abstract:
A digital communication device of the present invention is provided with a modulation circuit for modulating a digital transmit signal, a first interpolater for converting the modulated signal in frequency, a coding circuit for coding the signal converted in frequency into an audio PCM transmission code with reference to a voice companding code table, a decoding circuit for decoding a coded audio PCM receive code into a digital signal with reference to the voice companding code table, a second interpolater for converting the decoded digital signal in frequency, and a demodulation circuit for demodulating the converted signal, and digitally performs modem modulation/demodulation and voice codec processing.
Abstract:
In a picture image communication apparatus having: an ISDN interface for communicating with an ISDN line; a PSTN interface for communicating with an PSTN line; and an ISDN supervisor responsive to the ISDN interface for detecting a status of the ISDN line, for transmitting a video signal indicative of a video image in G3 mode through either of the ISDN line and the PSTN line which is selected in accordance with a command signal, the improvement comprises: a controller for, in the absence of the command signal, judging the status in response to the ISDN supervisor; transmitting the video signal through the ISDN line using the ISDN interface when the status indicates that the ISDN line is usable; for transmitting the video signal through the PSTN line using the PSTN interface when the status indicates that the ISDN line is unusable. It may further comprises a scanner for scanning the video image and for producing the video signal. It may further comprises an interface for receiving the video signal externally.
Abstract:
A facsimile apparatus is connected to an ISDN and is capable of transmission/reception. When a facsimile signal received from the ISDN is one sent to a non-ISDN facsimile apparatus, the facsimile signal received from the ISDN is converted into a non-ISDN facsimile signal and this signal is capable of being transmitted to the non-ISDN facsimile apparatus. Further, the facsimile apparatus is capable of being connected to a plurality of facsimile apparatus via an exchange, and a signal can be transmitted to a facsimile apparatus among the plurality thereof that is designated by a subaddress received from the ISDN. The facsimile apparatus is such that at the time of communication with a non-ISDN facsimile apparatus, communication is performed using the D channel of the ISDN, thereby raising the efficiency of ISDN utilization.
Abstract:
An image transfer apparatus includes a history information storage unit configure to store a history information by associating a mail address designated as a destination in a previously performed image transfer with type information indicating a type of the terminal of the image transfer destination. The apparatus allows a first transfer unit to execute the image transfer, when the history information stored in the history information storage unit is designated as the image transfer destination and the type information included in the designated history information indicates a first type in conformity with a Internet system, and allows a second transfer unit to execute the image transfer, when the type information included in the history information designated as the image transfer destination indicates a second type in a predetermined system not to related to the Internet system.
