Moreover, a compensating circuit provides for compensation of the colorimeter output signals with respect to reflectance error encountered in the optics portion of the colorimeter.

Abstract: The migration or fixing of colours in a material is dependent on several parameters such as temp. to change the coefficient of transmission of a colouring bath. The speed of variation of this coefficient is measured optically w.r.t. a reference bath for comparison with a previous reading. A lamp (11) at the focal point of a parabolic mirror (12) emits light via a heat emission filter (13) and lens (14) to light conducting fibres (15A, B). These pass through a reference bath (16A) isolated by valves (17, 18) and the variable colouring bath (16B). The received light from the baths is transmitted via three receiving fibres (19) and red, green, and blue filters (211, 212, 213) to photoreceivers (20). An electronic comparison circuit (22) processes the signals to obtain relative differential signals. The amplitude gives speed of variation which is indicated on a meter (23).
