Abstract:
An angled shank blade for a carpet or tile stripping machine with a flat bottomed blade for engaging the surface of a floor. The leading edge of the blade having an angle of about 20 degrees, followed by a tapered top surface portion and a rear portion. An angled blade head attached to the rear portion and angled upward at about 20 degrees. A shank attached to the blade at an angle of about 20 degrees for receiving the weight of the floor stripping machine and keeping the blade parallel to the floor while lifting the flooring material over the leading edge, the tapered portion, the blade head and shank smoothly and efficiently without binding. The blade may have a carbide insert for long lasting skiving of material from the floor.
Abstract:
a blade having a flat bottom surface, a carbide insert attached to the blade, a blade head attached to the blade, a blade shank attached to the blade head for connecting the floor stripping blade to a floor stripping machine at an angle such that the weight of the floor stripping machine rests on the flat bottom surface of the blade resting on the floor in front of the floor stripping machine.
Abstract:
A self-propelled carpet/tile stripping machine (10) of the walk-behind type includes a drive train including an electric motor (18) coupled through an electromagnetic clutch (58) and a gear reduction box (114) to ground-engaging wheels (14) for advancing the machine (10) in a forward direction when the clutch (58) is energized. The same motor (18) driving the wheels (14) also is coupled to a cutting head member (28) by means of an eccentric drive (132) where the cutting head member (28) is suspended in elastomeric shock mounts (138) to reduce vibration while yet permitting orbital movement of a floor-engaging cutting blade (16). Finger-tip controls (48,50) allows selective operation of the drive motor (18) and electromagnetic clutch (58). The machine (10) is further weighted to increase the frictional engagement between the floor engaging blade (16) and the floor surface and because of the self-propelled aspect, operator fatigue is minimized.
