Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a semi-automation method having possibilities of giving economically and efficiently optimized design in various of engineering processes, products and systems, and to parameterize one or a plurality of material characteristics of a material using a virtual test to generate topology of the material on the basis of the parameterization.SOLUTION: The method for generating the topology of the material includes: a step of parameterizing one or the plurality of material characteristics of the material using a computer, which includes a step of parameterizing one or a plurality of material characteristics related to strength including yield strength, breaking strength and hardness by limiting a repeated microstructure showing the material and a step of executing one or a plurality of virtual tests in which real application of at least one field to the material is simulated using different microstructures in each virtual test; and a step of generating the topology of the material on the basis of the parameterization.
Abstract:
Flashing strips incorporating a body and at least one reinforcing member and methods of making the same. For example, a flashing strip can include a viscoelastic body deformable by a manual force between at least a first configuration and a second configuration. The flashing strip can also include at least one reinforcing member being deformable by the manual force. The reinforcing member can be configured to maintain a first shape of the body when the body is in the first configuration and when the manual force is not applied to the body and can be configured to maintain a second shape of the body when the body is in the second configuration and when the manual force is not applied to the body.
Abstract:
A device for sealing an opening in a structural member and/or for sealing a plurality of openings in overlapping members, or for hanging an object on a wall. The device includes a deformable member having a substantially cylindrical stem and a flange at a first end of the stem. In some embodiments the deformable member is constructed of a compressible material that has good sealing capabilities. The stem is configured to extend through at least one opening in the at least one structural member such that the flange abuts a surface of the structural member. A reinforcing sleeve extends around the stem and provides a protective barrier between the at least one structural member and the stem. The sleeve may be constructed of a relatively hard and durable material such as a polymer, a metal or a ceramic, hi some embodiments the sleeve is substantially cylindrical with at least one tab extending from a lower end thereof, hi some other embodiments the sleeve includes a flange at an upper end. The device has additional utility as a fastening member for securing objects to surfaces.
Abstract:
A concrete construction includes a formed concrete slab having at least one control joint formed into a surface of the slab to control the location of stress cracks as the slab cures. A control joint protective strip is removably received in the control joint and has a head portion which overlays upper edges of the control joint. The control joint protective strip further includes a stem portion which is configured to engage frictionally interior side walls of the control joint when the stem portion is inserted into the control joint.
Abstract:
Various roof vent adaptors are disclosed. The roof vent adaptors can be used to seal penetrations on buildings, such as vent penetrations on metal or non-metal roofs. In various embodiments, the roof vent adaptor includes a sealing member, an outer securing unit and an inner securing unit. The roof vent adaptor can be secured to the roof to provide a generally liquid-tight seal around the roof vent, thereby inhibiting or preventing water intrusion into the building.
Abstract:
Various embodiments of disinfectant cleaning compositions and the method of using them are provided. In one embodiment of the present invention, the disinfectant cleaning composition comprises, by weight, from about 0.5% to about 35% hydrogen peroxide and from about 0.5% to about 25% aloe vera or active component thereof, and from about 99% to about 40% solvent. In another embodiment, the disinfectant cleaning composition further includes a fragrance.
Abstract:
The invention is directed to a curing agent composition for the preparation of cured, reinforced polymeric articles and includes a mixture of a peroxybenzoate component, a ketone peroxide component, and a promoter component. The promoter component includes a multi-valent transition metal or a tertiary amine, or a combination thereof. The curing agent composition is preferably storable and transportable at room temperature without undergoing substantial decomposition. The invention is further direct to the use of a curing agent composition in a method for the production of a cured, reinforced polymeric article by a pultrusion process.
