Abstract: A system and method are disclosed for protecting a database against deduction of confidential attribute values therein. A memory 160 is provided for storing the database and a processor 155 is provided for processing the database. Using the processor, the database is electronically partitioning into public attributes, containing nonconfidential attribute values, and private attributes, containing private attribute values. The processor is then used to electronically process the private attribute values to reduce any high correlation between public attribute values and private attribute values. Specifically, the processor can partition the database into safe tuples and unsafe tuples, which unsafe tuples have highly correlative public attribute values. The processor can then selectively combine the public attribute values of the tuples to camouflage such tuples from deduction of their private attribute values beyond a threshold level of uncertainty or remove such tuples from the database.

Abstract: A rechargeable lithium ion battery comprises a plurality of interleaved flexible electrolytic cells, each of which is a unitary planar laminated structure comprising polymeric anode, cathode, and intermediate electrolyte layers disposed between electrically conductive anode and cathode collector foil elements. One of the collector foils of a cell has an open grid structure to allow penetration of electrolyte solution into the cell layer while the other is substantially more continuous to provide supporting strength to the cell. At least a pair of cells having respective continuous foil anode and cathode collectors are interleaved in spiral-folded fashion to present those collector foils at the outer surface of the resulting structure to provide terminal contacts for the resulting high-capacity, low-profile battery.

Abstract: A Thin film electrode for a rechargeable (secondary) battery is prepared by electron beam deposition of LiMn2O4, LiCoO2, or LiNiO2 on a smooth, amorphous substrate surface and in situ annealing of the deposited lithium composition at a temperature below about 500 DEG C. The amorphous nature of the substrate surface prevents epitaxial growth or ordered orientation of the minute composition crystallites thus formed. The finely granular structure of the resulting electrode thin film presents abundant surface area that enables a 4V battery to provide current densities in the range of 500 microamps/cm2. The low annealing temperature enables formation of the electrode structure and subsequent battery assembly directly upon semiconductor devices and integrated circuitry.
