PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide flocculant capable of efficiently separating and recovering suspended solids remaining in a filtrate, in a Bayer process of an alumina production process.SOLUTION: A water-soluble or water-dispersible silicon-containing copolymer is formed by copolymerizing 5 wt.% or more of -Si(OR)group-containing unsaturated monomer as -Si(OR)group, wherein R is one or more selected from the group comprising Na, K, and NH. Preferably the copolymer uses an acrylamide as a main monomer component. The silicon-containing polymer is a hydroxamated silicon-containing polymer.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process capable of preparing 2-halo-4,6-bisaryl-1,3,5-triazine with unprecedented selectivity, efficiency, mild conditions, and in high yield. SOLUTION: There is provided a process for preparing 2-halo-4,6-bisaryl-1,3,5-triazine by the reaction of cyanuric halide with aromatic compounds in the presence of at least one Lewis acid and at least one reaction promoter. The reaction is unprecedently general as a variety of aromatic compounds can be used to produce a wide selection of 2-halo-4,6-bisaryl-1,3,5-triazines. Preferably, the Lewis acids and reaction promoters are combined to form a complex. The 2-halo-4,6-bisaryl-1,3,5-triazines are important intermediates for making 2-(2-oxyaryl)-4,6-bisaryl-1,3,5-triazine class of UV absorbers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide additive compositions useful for treating aluminosilicate scale included in industrial process streams, such as the Bayer alumina process streams, nuclear waste streams and kraft paper mill effluent streams.SOLUTION: The compositions contain a polymeric reaction product of a polyamine and nitrogen-reactive compounds, e.g., a polymeric reaction product of polyethyleneimine, glycidoxypropyl trimethoxysilane and chlorooctane.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid product that has very low concentration level of fines and contains phenothiazine material in prill form having a generally spherical shape.SOLUTION: The solid product contains the phenothiazine material expressed by the formula (II) (wherein: R1, R2, and R3 are the same or different and are each hydrogen, halogen, or branched and linear 1-26C alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or the like; and m and n are independently from 1 to 4). The solid product contains 6 wt.% or lower of the plural fines, that is, particulates having diameters of less than about 500 μm, which are in the prill form having the generally spherical shape and have an average diameter of from about 0.5 mm to about 2.3 mm.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel, efficient, economic and general-purpose method for isolating a monophenolic-bisaryl triazine compound from a polyphenolic-triazine compound and other impurities. SOLUTION: The method for isolating the compound of the formula comprises: contacting a product mixture in a solid state comprising a trisaryl-triazine compound with a hydrocarbon solvent so as to produce an isolation blend; and filtering the isolation blend. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material or a scale inhibition method for inhibiting generation of aluminosilicate scale in an industrial process having alkaline process stream, e.g., pulp producing process stream.SOLUTION: A polymer with at least 0.5 mol% of a side chain or a terminal group containing -Si(OR'')(where R'' is H, an alkyl group, Na, K, or NH) is added to an alkaline process stream. Accordingly generation of aluminosilicate scale on equipment surfaces such as an evaporator wall surface and a heating surface is reduced or prevented.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide phenothiazine, a phenothiazine analog, or a derivative (a phenothiazine material) in the form of prills generally of a spherical shape containing a very low level of a fine powder and to provide a method of forming a phenothiazine material in a prill form having a generally spherical shape. SOLUTION: The phenothiazine prill product preferably contains 99.6% phenothiazine. The method for manufacturing solid phenothiazine material in a prill form comprises breaking a stream of a molten phenothiazine material into a plurality of evenly sized droplets. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide phenothiazine, a phenothiazine analog or derivative (phenothiazine material) in the form of prills of a generally spherical shape containing very low levels of fines; and to provide a method for forming the phenothiazine material in the form of prills of a generally spherical shape.SOLUTION: A phenothiazine spherical solid material has a yellow color within a predetermined range in Munsell Color Chart, has an average diameter of 0.5 to 2.3 mm, and contains 6 wt.% of particles each having a particle diameter of smaller than 500 μm. The method for forming the same is also provided.
