    Abstract: A cable assembly (10) includes a cable (14), a connector-body (16), a cable-seal (13), and a retainer (12). The connector-body (16) is attached to the cable (14). The cable-seal (13) is disposed within the connector-body (16) and surrounds the cable (14). The cable- seal (13) is configured to inhibit entry of a contaminant into the connector-body (16). The retainer (12) is in direct contact with the cable (14), the connector-body (16) and the cable-seal (13). The retainer (12) is configured to retain the cable-seal (13) within the connector-body (16). The retainer (12) is configured to be installed onto the cable (14) and is attached to the connector-body (16). The retainer (12) contains cable-clamps (24) mounted to a pair of opposed inclined-surfaces (26) located on an inner-surface (28) of the retainer (12). The cable-clamps (24) include inclined-ramps (58) configured to engage the inclined-surfaces (26). The inclined-ramps (58) move along the inclined-surfaces (26), thereby causing the cable-clamps (24) to impart a radial-force (76) normal to the cable (14) when the retainer (12) is attached to the connector-body (16).

    Abstract: A shielded electrical connector assembly (100) includes an electromagnetic shield (116) integrally formed from a single sheet (120) of conductive material. The shield (116) has a main wall (122) and four side walls (124) surrounding the main wall (122). The shield (116) defines an opening (126) opposite the main wall (122) having an opening perimeter that is greater than or equal to a main wall perimeter. One of the four side walls (128) defines at least one side wall opening (130) that is configured to receive a shielded wire cable. A method (400) of manufacturing the shielded electrical connector assembly (100) includes the steps of providing a single planar sheet (120) of conductive material, providing a die (344) and a punch (346), forming the sheet (120) into a cupped shape having a main wall (122) and four side walls (124) surrounding the main wall (122) using the die (344) and the punch (346), and forming a side wall opening (130) in one of the four side walls (128).

    Abstract: An electrical terminal connection system (10) includes a first-housing (12) and a second-housing (26). The first-housing (12) has a first-electrical-terminal (14) and a terminal-hood (16). The first-electrical-terminal (14) has a first-planar-section (18) having a rectangular cross-section. The terminal-hood (16) encapsulates an inner-surface (20) and edges (22) of the first-electrical-terminal (14). The second-housing (26) is configured to mate with the first-housing (12) and has a second-electrical-terminal (28) and a sliding-block (30). The second-electrical-terminal (28) has a second-planar-section (32) having a rectangular cross-section and overlays an outer-surface (34) of the first-electrical-terminal (14). The second-housing (26) includes a first-fastener element (48) operable to engage a second-fastener element (50) disposed within the first-housing (12). The second-housing (26) is drawn into the first-housing (12) when the first-fastener element (48) and the second-fastener element (50) are joined. The sliding-block (30) imparts a lateral-force (58) on the terminal-hood (16) and urges the first-planar-section (18) into electrical-contact with the second-planar-section (32).

    Abstract: A connector assembly (10) includes a first-housing (14), a second-housing (16), and a seal (12). The second-housing (16) is configured to mate with the first-housing (14). The second-housing (16) has a seal-support surface (22) having a first-surface (24) and a second-surface (26) perpendicular to the first-surface (24) and generally forming an 1-shape (30). The seal-support surface (22) includes a plurality of seal-hangers (32) projecting laterally from the first-surface (24). The seal (12) is in direct contact with the seal-support surface (22). The seal (12) defines a wall (36) and a lip (44) extending laterally from the wall (36). The wall (36) defines an inner-surface (46) that engages the first-surface (24) and an outer-surface (48) that engages the first-housing (14). The wall (36) further defines a plurality of apertures (58) configured to receive the plurality of seal-hangers (32). The lip (44) defines a base (52) that engages the second-surface (26) and a top that engages a leading-edge (56) of the first-housing (14). The plurality of seal-hangers (32) are configured to inhibit bunching or rolling of the wall (36) when the first- housing (14) is mated with the second-housing (16).
