PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an EDC (electrostatic droplet collector) capable of mounting/dismounting an electrode assembly with a canister during a simple inspection-service. SOLUTION: In the ventilation system of an electrostatic type crankcase of the internal engine, the EDC assembly 20 includes: the canister 34 having an inlet 24 receiving a gas from an internal engine and an outlet 28 discharging a clean gas, and attached to an attachment head 36 in the ventilation system; and a corona-discharge electrode assembly 38 installed in the canister and apart from the canister 34 by a gap 61 giving a corona-discharge zone. The canister 34 is provided with a collector electrode and is detachably attached to the attachment head 36 so as to enable the collector electrode to be detached and replaced. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the process of plugging a filter, the deterioration of a service life and the backflow of fuel which is not filtered. SOLUTION: A filter assembly 20 comprises a housing 23 and an inner post 45 having a fluid inlet passage 102 extending into the housing 23. An outer post 46 surrounds the inner post 45 to define a fluid outlet passage. A filter cartridge 42 is received round the inner post 45 and the outer post 46. To seal between the inner post 45 and a first end plate, a first seal portion 71 is received in a first opening portion. To seal between the outer post 46 and a second end plate, a seal portion is received in a second opening portion. The housing 23 and the filter cartridge 42 define an outer cavity portion 54. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrostatic precipitator reducing the contamination of a ground electrode by separating a charging stage and a collection stage. SOLUTION: The electrostatic precipitator 100 for cleaning a gas blowing from the upstream to the downstream along a gas flow path 102 comprises a first zone 104 including a corona discharge ionization zone for making ions which charge a particle in gas in turn, and a second zone 106 including a collector zone located downstream of the first zone and collecting the charged particles. The precipitator 100 further comprises an anti-collector guide 108 preventing a collection of the charged particles in the first zone to direct the charged particles to flow to the second zone 106 downstream and collect the charged particles at the second zone, and a corona discharge electrode 110 for making an electrical field providing corona discharge ionization to the first zone 104 wherein the anti-collector guide 108 includes electrical field shielding which shields the charged particles from the electrical field in the first zone to prevent a collection of the charged particles in the first zone. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change the normal supply of the reagent solution into the flow of exhaust gas when the temperature of the reagent solution is near a freezing temperature by paying attention to the quality of reagent solution when not within a specified limit, while monitoring the quality of the reagent solution under wide-range operating conditions. SOLUTION: A reagent solution source supplies the reagent solution to an emission catalyst. A means is provided for determining a value for quality corresponding to the quality of the reagent solution. A first filter filters the value for the quality and a first comparator compares the filtered value for the quality with a threshold value and creates a defect value when the former exceeds the threshold value. Alternatively or additionally, a second filter filters the value for the quality and a second comparator compares a difference between the first and second filtered values for the quality with another threshold value and creates another defect value when the former exceeds the threshold value. SOLUTION: In this filter 20, a filter element 22 is installed to a base 24, and 1st and 2nd end caps 26, 28 are provided so as to separate each other in an axial direction. The fluid being filtered, after passing through a filtering medium 32 in a lateral direction 40, flows in an axial direction 42 through a hollow chamber and the inside of the opening for axial-direction flowing of the 2nd end cap 28. The filter element 22 is installed to the base 24 by the 2nd end cap 28 independently of the 1st end cap 26. Consequently, the need for the third part required in the past to install a housing cover to the base 24 thereby to cover and/or seal and /or retain the filter element 22 can be eliminated. SOLUTION: The filter including the air filter has axially spaced first and second end caps 22 and 24 and a filter medium 30 which axially extends between these caps 22 and 24 and peripherally extends to form a closed loop which forms a hollow internal space 32 communicating with an axial flow opening passing through one of the end caps 22 and 24. One or more columns 42 and 44 axially extending in the hollow internal space 32 between the end caps are arranged in positions laterally spaced from the axial flow opening. The columns 42 and 44 have each a hollow internal subspace which receives one or more posts axially extending from a base in order to attach the filter 20 to the base through axial compression and a wiper seal. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost and disposable spin-on fluid filter. SOLUTION: A disposable spin-on fluid filter 20 for mounting on a fluid directing head includes a molded housing having a closed base and a side wall defining a hollow cavity. A filtering medium is arranged in the hollow cavity and a nut plate 22 is connected to the housing so as to enclose the filtering medium. The nut plate includes a plurality of inlet flow openings and a foliated sleeve extending into the filtering medium. An end plate is connected to the filtering medium including a flange portion and a sleeve portion. The fluid filter includes an elastomeric flow control valve having a first part arranged between the flange portion and the plurality of inlet flow openings and a second part arranged between the sleeve portion and the foliated sleeve.
