    Abstract: A method and apparatus for integrating a user interface across multiple operating modes of a digital camera including a display. When the digital camera is placed into each one of the multiple operating modes, mode-specific items corresponding to that mode are displayed on the display. The digital camera includes a first button and a second button for interacting with the multiple operating modes, where the first button has a first orientation, and the second button has a second orientation. The method and apparatus includes mapping an aligned set of mode-specific items in the display to the orientation of the first button. After the mode-specific items are displayed, the user scrolls from one mode-specific item to the next in the aligned set by pressing the first button and the display indicates which of the mode-specific items is a currently active item. When a mode-specific item becomes the active item, additional information corresponding to the currently active item is displayed in the display in a location offset from the active item in a direction of orientation corresponding to that of the second button.

    Abstract: A camera with a built in microprocessor system programmed to receive an input password and indicium from a host computer. The camera is configured to use the indicium in combination with a conversion formula to mark an original acquired image in a non-destructive manner to form modified image data and add the indicium to an image header. The camera also creates image authentication data for comparison with corresponding data of a questionable second image to determine if the second image is the same as or different from the original image. This process of marking and creating authentication data all occur during acquisition and prior to any image data storage in a medium from which a person could subsequently access data. The camera takes the authentication data and stores it along with the marked image data in memory for subsequent transmission to the host computer. The preferred embodiment of the authentication involves the creation of checksum data, involving the addition of pixel values from each image row and each image column. These sums are then stored in a lookup table for future use in comparing with the result of the same checksum calculation done on questionable image data at a future time. The original image can be viewed only through presentation of the password.

    Abstract: A method and system for generating an HTML (hypertext markup language) file including images captured by a digital imaging device, the digital imaging device having a display. A script and it's predefined model are provided to the digital camera. The script is comprised of a set of software program instructions. The digital camera executes the script to display interactive instructions on the display that prompt a user to perform specific operations. In response to the user performing the specific operations, the digital camera automatically updates the interactive instructions, such that the user is guided through a series of related image captures to obtain a series of resulting images. The digital camera then generates an HTML file including the resulting images, wherein the HTML file is formatted in accordance with the predefined model.

A method aspect, and system for providing same, positions a stamp in a digital image captured with a digital image capture unit independently of the digital image orientation. Included are the selecting of at least two offset values for a stamp and identifying of an area in an image for placing the stamp based on the at least two offset values. Additionally included is the positioning of the stamp within the identified area based on the at least two offset values.
