Abstract: 147,725. Lang, J. Jan. 3, 1919, [Convention date]. Brush stocks; brush-making machines; bristles, fxing.-For securing bristles or fibres in brush heads, metal sleeves with corrugated edges are employed in conjunction with a device comprising a matrix with clamping-grippers adapted to close automatically around the outer sleeve by a single application of pressure from a die. Fig. 1 shows the outer sleeve blank with corrugations a and lateral closing-members b. The edges of the sleeves are rounded off and corrugated longitudinally so that the bristles alternately extend inwardly and outwardly. The device for securing bristles or fibres is shown in Fig. 2, the pressure from the die n causing the grippers f to close around the outer sleeve h and compress the parts of the brush into one compact unit. Simultaneously the lateral closing-members of the outer sleeve are pressed into position and secured by staples stamped out thereon which are bent over.

Abstract: 422,902. Automatic circuit-breakers. LANG, R. J., 91, Rue Villiers de l'Isle-Adam, Paris. April 18, 1933, Nos. 11282 and 11283. Void [Abridged as open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 20, 1933]. [Class 38 (v)] The Specification describes several forms of automatic circuit-breakers having fusible release members. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the movable contact bridge 13 pivoted loosely on a spindle 3, is maintained in engagement with fixed contacts 14 against the action of a spring 15 by means of a pawl 11 engaging a ratchet 10 fixed on the spindle 3, the fluted lower end of which is held by fusible material 4 contained in a fixed cup 2. A heating coil 7 in the circuit to be protected surrounds the cup 2 so that on overload, the fusible material melts and allows ratchet 10 to turn, thus opening the switch. In the modification shown in Fig. 11 manual releasing means are provided. A contact bridge 15 integral with a cup-shaped member 14 is biassed to the off position by a spring 21 connected to a fixed strap 4 formed with a hollow cylindrical part 5 having ratchet teeth 6 on its lower edge. Passing through the part 5 is a rod 7 having extensions 12 engaging slots in a member 19 normally connected by fusible material to the cup 14 . The rod 7 has an annular shoulder having ratchet teeth 11 biassed into engagement with the fixed teeth 6 by a spring 21 . A handle 27 is slidably but non-rotatably connected with the rod 7 which is also provided with a push knob 28 . In operation the handle 27 rotates the rod 7 , the teeth 11 slipping over the teeth 6 , and the extensions 12 , acting through the members 19 , 14 rotate the bridge 15 to the on position where it is held by the teeth 6 , 11 . When an excess current passes in the coil 23 , the fusible material melts and the cup 14 rotates relative to the member 19 and rod 7 to open the switch. Manual release is effected by depressing knob 28 and hence rod 7 to disengage teeth 11 from fixed teeth 6 and allow the switch to be opened by spring 21 . Alternatively, the rod 7 may be drawn down electromagnetically.
