Methods for producing cyanide salts using a metathesis process using ion exchange to facilitate a double-decomposition reaction where components of a cyanide-containing compound are exchanged to produce a cyanide salt product are provided. In one embodiment of the invention, HCN may be converted to an alkali salt using a base. The alkali cyanide salt undergoes ion-exchange to yield the desired cyanide salt product. In another embodiment of the invention, hydrogen cyanide is directly converted to cyanide salts in an ion exchange bed without first being converted to a basic salt.

A self-limiting shaped memory alloy device, including a shape memory alloy member, with first and second ends, a first anchor member connected to the first end, an energy contact, a second anchor member connected to the energy contact, an energy source connected in energetic communication to the energy contact, a moveable member connected to the second end, and a biasing member operationally connected to the moveable member for urging the moveable member towards and into physical contact with the second anchor member. The moveable member is in physical contact with the second anchor member and the second end is in energetic communication with the energy contact. Actuation of the energy source energizes the energy contact. Energization of the shape memory alloy member initiates a phase change that urges the moveable member away from the second anchor member. Movement of the moveable member away from the second anchor member disengages the second end from the energy contact.

The invention relates to a method of manufacturing a disinfectant formulation comprising calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2) and sodium hypochlorite (NaClO). The method includes the steps of: a) mixing calcium hydroxide dry powder with water in a percentage ratio of about 2.5 to about 97.5 by weight to form a supernatant of calcium hydroxide in water having a dissolved solids concentration of about 0.12% to about 0.18% by volume of calcium hydroxide in the supernatant; the dissolved solids concentration of calcium hydroxide in the supernatant being controlled by adjusting the temperature; b) separating the supernatant from precipitated calcium hydroxide; and c) adding to the supernatant separated from the precipitated calcium hydroxide sodium hypochlorite in an amount to achieve a solution concentration of about 0.1% to 5% by volume.

Techniques to transform network resource requests to zero rated network requests are described. Some embodiments are particularly directed to techniques transform network resource requests on a cellular network to zero rating by replacing the destination of the request with a zero-rated source for the network resource. In one embodiment, for example, an apparatus may comprise a data store and a network access component. The data store may be operative to store a plurality of zero-rating rewrite rules. The network access component may be operative to receive a network request from an application component on the mobile device, the network request for access to a network resource; compare the network resource to the plurality of zero-rating rewrite rules to identify a zero-rating rewrite rule matching the network resource; transform the network request to a zero-rated network request for the network resource using the identified zero-rating rewrite rule; and perform the zero-rated network request.
