PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide recombinant B. thetaiotaomicron GAG lyase polypeptides.SOLUTION: The invention provides the recombinant B. thetaiotaomicron GAG lyase polypeptides. The invention also provides nucleic acid molecules encoding such polypeptides, recombinant expression vectors containing B. thetaiotaomicron GAG lyase nucleic acid molecules, and host cells into which the expression vectors have been introduced. Characterization, diagnostic and therapeutic methods utilizing compositions are also provided.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for analyzing and monitoring a group of nonuniform sulfurated polysaccharides. SOLUTION: The method for analyzing a composition sample containing the polysaccharides is provided, by causing a structural feature of the sample to determine one or more primary products selected among: (a) the existence or the quantity of one or more component sugars or disaccharides; (b) the existence or the quantity of one or more block components as components composed of a plurality of sugars or polysaccharides; (c) the existence or the quantity of a representative of one or more sugars modified so as to enhance the detection possibility; (d) the existence or the quantity of parameters regarding an index of a three-dimensional structure or the three-dimensional structure; and (e) the existence or the quantity of one or more modified sugars varied, when a preparation is produced although the modified sugars exist in an initiation material used for producing the preparation. Abstract:
The invention encompasses the discovery that Fc-containing polypeptides that include branched glycans and that are sialylated on the branched glycan (e.g., on an α 1,3 and/or α 1,6 arm in the Fc region's N-linked glycosylation site), with, e.g., a NeuAc-α 2,6-Gal or NeuAc-α 2,3-Gal terminal linkage, are useful in treating neurodegeneration, e.g., in the treatment of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's Disease. The present disclosure provides, in part, methods for treating neurodegeneration or neurodegenerative diseases by administering compositions containing such Fc-containing polypeptides as well as methods for evaluating, identifying, and/or producing (e.g., manufacturing) such polypeptides for the treatment of neurodegeneration.

The present invention features antibodies that have high binding affinity to human neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn). These anti-FcRn antibodies are useful, e.g., to promote clearance of autoantibodies in a subject, to suppress antigen presentation in a subject, to block an immune response, e.g., block an immune complex-based activation of the immune response in a subject, and to treat immunological diseases (e.g., autoimmune diseases) in a subject.
