    Abstract: A printer includes: a media tray (10); a picker (15); a media guide (16) for guiding the media sheets around a media feed path towards a print zone (22); a main drive roller assembly (23) positioned upstream of the print zone; and an intermediary drive roller assembly (40,42,44) positioned between the picker and the main drive roller assembly. The intermediary drive roller assembly includes: an intermediary idler roller (42) mounted on an intermediary idler shaft; and an intermediary drive roller (44) having a gripping surface engaged with the intermediary idler roller. An intermediary drive shaft is pivotally connected to a support shaft via a swing arm (40, 72), such that the intermediary drive shaft is arcuately moveable relative to the intermediary idler shaft to provide a variable distance therebetween.

    Abstract: A modular inkjet printhead includes a plurality of printhead modules arranged end on end in a row. Each printhead module includes: a substrate having a plurality of parallel ink supply channels extending longitudinally along a length thereof and a plurality of parallel printhead segments. Each printhead segment extends longitudinally along a length of the substrate and has a plurality of print chips arranged end on end in a row. A plurality of fingers extend longitudinally from opposite ends of each printhead module, each finger including a portion of a respective one of the printhead segments. The fingers of neighboring printhead modules are interdigitated such that printhead segments of neighboring printhead modules overlap.

    Abstract: A printer includes: a first fixed printhead (3) having a respective first print zone; a first platen (7) positioned in the first print zone; a second fixed printhead (5) positioned downstream of the first printhead having a respective second print zone; a second platen (11) positioned in the second print zone; an input roller assembly (15) configured for feeding media sheets along a downward trajectory towards the first platen; an intermediary roller assembly (19) positioned between the first and second platens and configured for receiving the media sheets from the first platen and feeding the media sheets along a downward trajectory towards the second platen; and an exit roller assembly (21) for receiving the media sheets from the second platen. The second platen is positioned relatively lower than the first platen to facilitate a stepped media feed path with minimal distance between the first and second printheads.
