    Abstract: A power amplifying unit implemented with a power amplifying module (12) and connectable to a transmitter/receiver (18) of a mobile radio telephone apparatus. A DC current amplifier (44) is connected to a control voltage terminal included in the PA module. Different voltages generated by individual power source circuits (46, 50, 54) are selectively applied to the DC current amplifier. The unit is operable with any of PA moduls each applying a particular voltage to a control voltage terminal thereof.

    Abstract: A data demodulator wholly consisting of digital circuits for TDMA signals subjected to differential phase-shift-keying (DPSK). The data demodulator generates a phase difference signal by subjecting pi /4QPSK signals to delayed detection with phase detection means, delay means and phase difference detection means, connected in cascade and all known to persons skilled in the art, in synchronism with N-phase clock signals, and reproduces this phase difference signal into decision data with definition means. A first such data demodulator finds out decision errors from said phase difference signal and decision data, and achieves symbol synchronism by sampling said decision data in a clock signal phase involving little decision error. A second such data demodulator supplies said phase difference signal to said decision after correcting its D.C. offset due to a frequency drift. In these two data demodulators, the formulas for computing said decision errors and correction values are flexibly varied according to preceding burst information.

    Abstract: A signal size judging apparatus is disclosed that comprises of a separating circuit, a plurality of judging circuit and a connection status deciding circuit. The separating circuit receives the multiplexed signal and separating it into its constituent basic signals for each channel. The judging circuits are provided to correspond to each of the basic signals for each channel except the foremost channel and is supplied with the basic signals for each of the channels from the separating circuit and judges whether or not each basic signal is connected to the basic signal for the immediately preceding channel. The connection status deciding circuit decides as to how the basic signals for all of the channel are connected on the bases of the possible results of judgment performed by the judging circuit.

    Abstract: A digital output of a quasi-coherent detection circuit (2) is M-th power multiplied and then processed by a set of digital filters to generate signals for coherent detection and clock interpolation. The digital output of the quasi-coherent detection circuit (2) is also fed, through a delay circuit (19), to coherent detection circuit which in turn processes the digital output of the quasi-coherent detection circuit, using the coherent detection signal. Timing error information indicative of the difference between phases of an interpolated clock and the interpolation signal determines the weighting factor of data interpolation channel filter (18) which in turn interpolate and output coherent-detected data signal.

    Abstract: The offset from the ideal value for the bias voltage to be added to the input signal to the A/D converter (4) and the offset from the ideal value of the average voltage in the analog signal are detected. The detected offset is subtracted from the output data of the A/D converter (4). Alternately, the bias voltage may be changed by the detected offset so that the average voltage of the input signal to the A/D converter (4) is equal to the ideal value.

    Abstract: A vehicle mounted adaptor (10) is arranged to be coupled to a portable transceiver (11) when the portable transceiver (11) is used within the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The portable transceiver (11) includes a main battery (52), a backup battery (54) and a power switch circuit (60). The power switch circuit (60) is supplied with power from either one of said main and backup batteries (52,54) and generates a control signal when turned on for operating the portable transceiver (11). The adaptor (10) includes a power switch (12) which is coupled to a car battery (20) mounted on the vehicle. The power switch (12) of the adaptor is switched over from OFF position to ON position when the control signal is generated and switched over from the ON position to the OFF position when the control signal is terminated. The adaptor (10) further includes a backup battery charger (70) which is coupled to the power switch (12). The backup battery charger (70) serves to charge the backup battery when said first means (12) is in the OFF position. Therefore, the backup battery charger (70) is able to charge the backup memory even if the portable transceiver fails to generate the control signal due to a poor condition of both the main and backup batteries.

    Abstract: A frequency sweep control apparatus includes a variable frequency oscillator, a demodulator, a unique word signal detector, a sweep range controller, and a frequency controller. The variable frequency oscillator is capable of controlling an oscillation frequency. The demodulator demodulates a reception intermediate frequency signal by using an output from the variable frequency oscillator. The unique word signal detector detects a unique word signal in the reception signal from a demodulated output from the demodulator 102 and outputs a detection signal indicating a unique word signal detected state in which the unique word signal is detected or a unique word signal non-detected state in which the unique word signal is not detected. The sweep range controller controls a sweep range on the basis of an output from the unique word signal detector. The frequency controller controls the oscillation frequency of the variable frequency oscillator on the basis of an output from the sweep range controller.

    Abstract: A portable radio telephone comprises a receiver section (20) including at least an RF amplifier (22) and a first frequency mixer (23). The telephone also comprises a battery (15) which supplies a first voltage to the receiver section (20) when the telephone is in portable use. When the telephone is mounted on a vehicle, a vehicle battery (34) applies a second voltage which is higher than the first voltage, to the RF amplifier (22) and to the frequency mixer (23). By this higher voltage supply, the intermodulation characteristic and reception sensitivity of the receiver section can be improved in the vehicle-mounted use. On the other hand, battery saving can be achieved by the lower voltage supply in the portable use.
