    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide a camshaft easy to press in which can ensure a desired assembly strength stably at the press in time of a cam to a shaft. CONSTITUTION: By plural projecting stripes 4 formed in parallel with the axis of a hollow shaft 1, the resistance at the press in time is reduced and the press in to the hollow shaft 1 of the cam becomes smooth and the assembly strength is stabilized. Further, the shift of the cam to the periphery direction of the hollow shaft 1 after assembling is prevented.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To prevent the angle of a cam with a shaft member from the occurrence of change with the lapse of time by a method wherein each of the corner parts of a polygonal mounting hole formed in a cam is formed in the shape of a circular arc having a specific radius or more. CONSTITUTION: Each of the corner parts 13 of a mounting hole 12 in a polygonal shape formed in a cam 11 is formed in the shape of a circular arc having a radius of 0.1 mm or more. As a result, a gap is hardly provided between the corner part 13 of the mounting hole 12 and an upheaval part 3 of a shaft member 1. Thus, even when the upheaval part 3 of the shaft member 1 shows a tendency to be deformed due to a force in a rotation direction exerted on the cam 11, a space in which the material of the upheaval part escapes is very small, the occurrence of change with the lapse of time of the upheaval part 3 is suppressed, and an angle of the cam 11 with respect to the shaft member 1 is prevented from the occurrence of change with the lapse of time.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To provide an instrument for measuring attaching angles of cams to cam shaft which can quickly and accurately inspect a cam shaft for attaching angles of cams and, at the same time, can guarantee the accuracy of the attaching angles. CONSTITUTION: The position of a specific part (for example, the top) of one 3 of a plurality of cam pieces 3 is detected by rotating a cam shaft 1 by one round by means of a stepping motor 26 while the outer peripheral surface (cam surface) of the cam piece 3 is inspected with a dial gauge 32 and the then angle of rotation of the shaft 1 is detected by means of a rotary encoder 22. By successively performing the above-mentioned operations on each cam piece 3, the attaching angles of the cams 3 to the shaft 1 are measured and the normal/defective of the attaching angles is judged.

    Abstract: PURPOSE: To force the projecting strips of a shaft main body to abut against inwardly projecting elevated portions to cause plastic deformation mainly in the projecting strips so as to reduce the amount of chips generated by forming into a generally circular shape a mounting hole in a cam in which the projecting strips are fitted, and forming the inwardly projecting elevated portions on a portion of the mounting hole. CONSTITUTION: This camshaft is used in an internal combustion engine or the like and a shaft main body with projecting strips formed on its outer surface is pressed and fitted into a mounting hole 40 formed in the inner surface of a cam 20. In this case, the mounting hole 40 is formed in a generally circular shape and inwardly projecting elevated portions 41 to be pressed against the projecting strips are formed on at least a portion of the mounting hole 40. The diameter D1 of the mounting hole 40 is set to be, e.g. slightly greater than the outside diameter of each projecting strip. The axial distance D2 between the elevated portions 41 is set to be, e.g. smaller than the outside diameter of each projecting strip and greater than the outside diameter of the shaft main body. Further, the opposite surfaces (inner surfaces) of the elevated portions 41 are formed into, e.g. planes. Thereby the elevated portions 41 are forced to abut against the projecting strips to cause plastic deformation mainly in the projecting strips, thus reducing the amount of chips generated.

A cam 2 with a mounting hole 4, where the diameter of a circle formed by binding together the tips of the protrusion parts 6 is decreased to a value lower than the diameter of the upheaved part 3, is fitted in the shaft member 1. This way welds together at 15 the cam 2 and the shaft member 1 at a portion, where the protrusion part 6 is formed, in a cam shaft having a cam 2 fixed on the shaft member 1 such that rotation is impracticable.

CONSTITUTION: A hollow shaft 1 is formed with plural first grooves 3A at a prescribed angle with its axis and second grooves 3B adjacent to the first grooves 3A, perpendicular to the axis. Because the first grooves 3A reduce resistance at the time of a press-in, a cam is smoothly pressed onto the hollow shaft 1 to stabilize an installing strength, while cut powder generated at the time of the press-in is confined in the second grooves 3B so as not to be discharged outward.
