Abstract:
The footwear sole and heel consists of a layer (11) of a flexible material such as a compact or cellular elastomer containing reinforcing elements (8, 15) that are slender in shape, i.e. with crosssections inferior to their length, and extend to a height equivalent to at least half the thickness of the sole. The reinforcing elements, which are made from an optionally reinforced or expanded elastomer material and enlarged at the base (7, 16), are embedded in the flexible material of the sole and are angled at 30 - 150 degrees to its outer surface. They are also shaped to promote deformation by flexion. An independent claim is included for a manufacturing method of the inventive shoe soles comprising attaching the reinforcing material to the sole.

Abstract:
The parachute sail double surface wing span is reduced by folding, in flight, one or more cavities onto themselves by a system of halyards (1) and internal pulleys (2). The halyards and pulleys are fastened on the inter-cavity partitions (3) to form a reduction zone and bring closer together these partitions when the halyards are pulled. The halyards are joined in a single cavity partition (4) in order to allow simultaneous pulling and locking by the parachutist. The anchoring point of one partition has an eyelet for fixing the halyard ends which then pass through holes in reduction zone partitions to join on to the pulleys

A method for identifying compounds that inhibit amyloid-beta precursor protein processing in cells, comprising contacting a test compound with a PROTEASE polypeptide, or fragment thereof, and measuring a compound-PROTEASE property related to the production of amyloid-beta peptide. Cellular assays of the method measure indicators including cleaved protease substrate and/or amyloid beta peptide levels. Therapeutic methods, and pharmaceutical compositions including effective amyloid-beta precursor processing-inhibiting amounts of PROTEASE expression inhibitors, are useful for treating conditions involving cognitive impairment such as Alzheimer's disease.
