Abstract:
Methods and systems for producing personalized products are provided. The method involves placing a plurality of ingredients in a primary container (100), heating at least a portion of the primary container to a temperature selected to melt the ingredients, placing the heated primary container (100) into a centrifuge, blending the melted ingredients into a substantially homogeneous mixture by spinning the primary container (100) in the centrifuge, and allowing the substantially homogeneous mixture to cool to form a solid product.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are compositions that can be used to create a thin film on the skin of a subject in a single application step to the skin of the subject. More specifically, a composition provided herein does not have to be stored in multiple compartments, nor mixed with another composition or component before application to the skin. Instead, a single composition can be manufactured, stored in a single compartment, and then applied to the skin of a subject to create a film on the skin of the subject. In certain embodiments, because there is no need to mix a composition provided herein prior to application to the skin, the container comprising a composition provided herein may also include an applicator suitable for application of the composition to the skin.
Abstract:
An apparatus for evaluating a sebum level associated with an area of human skin, including a housing that includes a port defined by a perimeter region that is configured to contact a test skin surface and to define the test skin surface when the apparatus is in an operating mode. A first and second sensor are contained in the housing, and a light source contained in the housing and configured to project light onto the test skin surface. The first sensor configured to generate first sensor data in response to detection of light that is reflected from the area of skin in the operating mode. The second light sensor is configured to generate second sensor data in response to detection of light that is reflected from the area of human skin and light that is diffused from the area of skin in operating mode.
Abstract:
A method for image transformation including receiving, from an electronic device, an input image having represented therein an object having a predefined region with a selected characteristic, extracting, from the input image, an isolated image corresponding to the predefined region, inputting the isolated image into a baseline generator, trained by an offline unbalanced neural network, that generates a new image that represents a modification to the predefined region in which the selected characteristic is replaced with a baseline characteristic, and generating an output image that reflects a modification of the input image to include a representation of the new image.
Abstract:
A facial skin care management system including a detection device configured to detect and transmit to a mobile device physiological data of a user. The mobile device is configured to collect user anatomical data and display, via a user interface, representations of the user anatomical data. The facial skin care management system also includes at least one processor coupled to the mobile device and configured to cause the user interface to display an association of the physiological data with the user anatomical data.
Abstract:
A microorganism resistant to a threonine analogue, which has a plasmid containing part or whole of a biotin operon; and a process for producing biotin, which comprises culturing a microorganism described above in a medium to produce and accumulate biotin in the medium, and collecting biotin.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are compositions that can form a covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin that can be comfortably worn to provide skin barrier function, skin hydration and therapeutic and aesthetic benefits. Provided herein are novel compositions that have low tackiness and form quickly, resulting in a wearable, comfortable (maintains temperature and humidity), breathable, thin, optically invisible, cosmetically elegant, flexible, stretchable, elastic and body-movement conforming, yet long-lasting covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin on the skin or any other body surface. Provided herein are novel compositions that can form a covering, layer, film, device, and/or prosthetic skin that works for extended periods in excess of about 24 hours, while retaining function during and after exercising, showering and swimming (in sea-water, fresh water and chlorinated water), steam room (heat at high humidity), and sauna (heat at low humidity).
