Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses are provided that include classifying nearby devices as neighboring or non-neighboring devices. Devices can be classified based on detected registration attempts to a femto node, where the femto node can switch paging area identifiers to cause the registration attempts or otherwise, analyzing measurement reports received from the devices in a registration request, and/or the like. The femto node can mitigate interference to the devices based on the classification.
Abstract:
Systems, methods, and devices are described for supporting macrocell-to-femtocell hand-ins of active macro communications for mobile devices. An out-of-band (OOB) link is used to detect that a mobile device is in proximity of a femtocell. Having detected the mobile device in proximity to the femtocell, an OOB proximity detection is communicated to a femtocell gateway disposed in a core network in communication with the macro network to effectively pre-register the mobile device with the femto-convergence system. When the femtocell gateway receives a handover request from the macro network implicating the pre-registered mobile device, it is able to reliably determine the appropriate target femtocell to use for the hand-in according to the pre-registration, even where identification of the appropriate target femtocell would otherwise be unreliable. Some embodiments may also handling registering the mobile device after a handover request has occurred, including tiered approaches.
Abstract:
According to some wireless network standards the size of a neighbor cell list is restricted to a maximum size. The limited size of a neighbor cell list may not reflect the realities of a wireless network deployment, especially for deployments including numerous femto cells clustered in close proximity. Accordingly, as the concentration of macro cells and/or femto cells in an area increases, there lies a challenge to identify and communicate neighbor lists to user devices that reflect the arrangement of a particular portion of the deployment and the needs of the user devices. Various systems, methods and apparatus described herein are configured to provide a user device or a group of user devices a neighbor cell list that includes neighbor cell identifiers chosen from a candidate list.
Abstract:
An access point sends an indication or message to a network entity to indicate whether the network entity is to perform access control for an access terminal. In some implementations the indication/message may comprise an explicit indication of whether or not that network entity is to perform the access control. In some implementations, the inclusion of information (e.g., a CSG identifier) in the message or the exclusion of information from the message indicates whether the network entity is to perform the access control.
Abstract:
To facilitate inbound mobility for an access terminal, different virtual active sets are employed for different types of access points or cells (e.g., HNBs versus macro cells). In addition, different lists of permitted cells are maintained for these different types of access points or cells. Also, a frequency quality estimate for inter-frequency event triggering may be based on measurement of a single cell present in a virtual active set (e.g., a dedicated HNB virtual active set).
Abstract:
Local IP access paging schemes facilitate paging of an access terminal when packets destined for the access terminal are received via local IP access. In some implementations, a local entity acquires information that enables local paging of the access terminal by sniffing messages passing through the local entity. In some implementations, a local entity sends a packet or message to cause the core network to page an access terminal when a local IP access packet destined for the access terminal arrives at the local entity.
Abstract:
An access terminal may switch to a different mode of wireless network selection as a result of manual selection of a wireless cell set (e.g., a closed subscriber group) associated with one or more wireless cells. For example, if the user of an access terminal selects a closed subscriber group in a wireless network that is different than the current wireless network, the access terminal may enter a manual mode of wireless network selection, select the wireless network corresponding to the closed subscriber group, and register on a closed subscriber group cell in the selected wireless network. In addition, an access terminal may automatically switch to a different mode of wireless network selection (e.g., the prior mode) upon losing coverage of a wireless cell set. An access terminal may also automatically select a cell of a wireless cell set if the access terminal returns to a cell of the cell set within a defined period of time after losing coverage of the cell set. Furthermore, an access terminal may return to a prior wireless network upon losing coverage of a wireless cell set.
Abstract:
Systems and methodologies are described that facilitate multiplexing communications from multiple downstream access points to one or more mobility management entities (MME). In particular, a concentrator component is provided that can establish a single transport layer connection with an MME along with multiple application layer connections over the single transport layer connection for each of multiple downstream access points and/or related mobile devices. The downstream access points and/or mobile devices can provide identifiers to the concentrator component, which can utilize the identifiers to track communications with the MME. In this regard, the MME can additionally include identifiers received from the concentrator component in subsequent communications to facilitate identifying the appropriate downstream access point and/or mobile device.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus and computer program product for associating advertisements with a document is presented. A document for having advertisements associated therewith is identified, the document comprising a portable electronic document. At least one advertisement tag is provided for the document, the advertisement tag identifying possible types of advertising materials appropriate for the document. A document ID is also provided for associating an advertisement with the electronic document. When the document is viewed the at least one advertisement tag associated with the electronic document is sent to an advertisement partner. At least one advertisement is received from the advertisement partner and the at least one advertisement is rendered with the document.
Abstract:
A neighbor cell list for a cell is maintained based on a received handover message that identifies at least one physical layer identifier. For example, the handover message may include measurement report messages (MRMs) generated by the access terminal being handed over. As another example, the handover message may include a neighbor cell list that is associated with the access terminal. The measurement report messages and the neighbor cell list associated with the access terminal will identify physical layer identifiers of cells in the vicinity of the source cell and, in some cases, in the vicinity of the access terminal being handed over. Upon receipt of the handover message, the neighbor cell list for the target cell is updated based on the physical layer identifiers identified by the handover message.
