    Abstract: A process comprising the chloridization step wherein chlorine gas is brought into contact with metallic nickel to generate a metal chloride gas continuously and the reduction step wherein the metal chloride gas is brought into contact with a reducing gas to reduce the metal chloride continuously. According to this process, the amount of the metal chloride gas generated can be regulated by controlling the feed of chlorine gas to thereby regulate the particle diameter of metal powder accurately, which secures the constancy of the particle diameter and arbitrary selection thereof within the range of 0.1 to 1.0 mu m.
