Disclosed is a heavy metal complex of an ethynyl group-substituted fused heterocyclic compound which is represented by the following formula (1) (wherein M represents a heavy metal element, L represents a monodentate ligand or bidentate ligand; Z represents a halogen atom, alkyl group, alkenyl group, aryl group, aralkyl group, alkoxy group, aryloxy group, nitro group, cyano group or dialkylamino group; n represents an integer of 0-6; Zs may be the same or different and when Zs are alkyl groups, alkenyl groups, aryl groups, aralkyl groups, alkoxy groups, aryloxy groups or dialkylamino groups, two adjacent groups may combine together to form a ring; A and B respectively represent CH or N, and when A or B is CH, the hydrogen atom may be substituted by Z or an ethynyl group; and k represents an integer of 1-4). Also disclosed are a method for producing the same, a synthetic intermediate thereof, a method for producing such a synthetic intermediate, and an organic electroluminescent device containing the same.

The invention aims at providing catalysts for the polymerization or copolymerization of alpha-olefins which exhibit high hydrogen response and high polymerization activity and can give polymers and copolymers of alpha-olefins having high stereoregularity and excellent melt flow characteristics; catalyst components of the catalysts; and processes for the polymerization of alpha-olefins with the catalysts. The invention relates to catalyst components of the catalyst for the polymerization or copolymerization of alpha-olefins which are represented by the general formula (37) or (38): Si(OR )3(NR R ) (37) (wherein R is hydrocarbyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R is hydrocarbyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms or hydrogen; and R is hydrocarbyl having 1 to 12 carbon atoms), and RNSi(OR )3 (38) (wherein R is hydrocarbyl having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and RN is cyclic amino).

A process for the production of trialkoxyhalosilanes which comprises reacting a tetrahalosilane [37] with a tetra- alkoxysilane [38] in the presence of an alcohol whose alkoxy group is the same as those of the tetraalkoxysilane to thereby obtain a trialkoxyhalosilane [39], characterized in that the alcohol is used in an amount of 5 to 50 % by mole based on the total amount of Si of the tetrahalosilane and the tetraalkoxysilane: SiX4 [37] (wherein X is halogeno) Si(OR )4 [38] (wherein R is a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms) XSi(OR )3 [39] (wherein X and R are each as defined above).
