Abstract:
An electronic device which can include an input portion, a processing portion and a display portion. The processing portion can be coupled to the input portion. The display portion can be coupled to the processing portion. Input signals can be communicated from the input portion. The processing portion can be coupled to the input portion such that input signals are receivable therefrom and processed in a manner so as to produce output signals. The display portion can be coupled to the processing portion such that output signals are receivable therefrom and displayable at the display portion as display data. The input signals can correspond to at least one of graphic data, control data and audio data. The output signals can correspond to at least one of indicator data and character data. The display data can correspond to at least one of character data and indicator data.
Abstract:
There is provided a media player including a casing with a front panel mounted thereon; the front panel including at least one touch sensor; and at least one mechanical switch incorporated within the casing. It is preferable that a combination of activating at least one touch sensor, and activating the at least one mechanical switch at least once is required for the activation of at least one function from a first set of functions of the media player. The media player may be an audio media player, a video media player, a digital photo viewer or a combination of the aforementioned. Associated methods to provide instructions to the media player are also disclosed.
Abstract:
There is provided an image capturing apparatus able to be draped onto a stand. The apparatus includes an image capture module for capturing at least one image; and a flexible cable originating from the image capture module for connection of the image capture module to a host. The flexible cable may be for supporting the image capture module at a desired position when the image capturing apparatus is draped onto the stand. Advantageously, locating the image capture module at the desired position enables a user to look at a lens of the image capture module in a manner where a recipient of an image of the user views the user looking directly at the recipient during a video conference session. There are also provided methods for enabling a user to appear to be looking directly at a recipient of an image of the user during a video conferencing session.
Abstract:
A portable device comprising a body (12), at least one wall (24) of the body being of a translucent material and havi an outer surface, an inner surface (64) and an outer surface (68) and an outer peripheral edge surface. The outer surface (68) is coated with a first non-translucent material (70), there being a plurality of outer openings (23) in the first non-translucent material to form a plurality of control indications (52). The inner surface (64) is coated with a second non-translucent material (76), there being at least one inner opening in the second non-translucent material fo at least one light source (66). The first non-translucent coating and the second non-translucent coating cause internal reflection within the at least one wall except for the outer openings and the outer peripheral edge (74) through which light from the at least one light source is able to pass.
Abstract:
There is provided a method for fanning pages of an electronic book on a touch panel display of an electronic apparatus for consuming electronic books. The method replicates a user experience similar to fanning pages of a physical book.
Abstract:
An electronic book reader, the electronic book reader comprising: a reading interface for accessing an electronic book; a display for displaying the electronic book; a network interface for forming a communication connection between the electronic book reader and a device through a server, the server being connected to data storage comprising data of one or more user accounts associated with the electronic book; and a communication interface for facilitating exchange of multimedia messages between the electronic book reader and the device across the communication connection, wherein the communication connection being formed upon activation of the communication interface and upon both the electronic book and the device being logged in to the server via one of the one or more user accounts associated with the electronic book.
Abstract:
A method and an apparatus for processing at least one set of source data from a source portion. The source portion can be associated with a reading material source having identification tags which can be included in the at least one set of source data. The method includes receiving at least one set of source data and processing the received set of source data in a manner so as to extract identification tags therefrom. The method further includes producing at least one of a set of code data and a set of graphic data based on the extracted identification tags. The method yet further includes processing at least one of the set of code data and the set of graphic data in a manner so as to produce at least one set of processed data.
Abstract:
A device and method for scanning an object on a working surface, the device comprising: a body located adjacent to the working surface; two or more cameras mounted on the body at a location elevated adjacently above the working surface for capturing images of the object on the working surface, the two or more cameras being angled such that their range of image captures overlap and the common overlapping region of the range of image captures of the two or more cameras corresponds with the size of the working surface, the two or more cameras being spaced apart such that each of the two or more cameras captures a different angle of the common overlapping region; and a processing unit capable of correcting skewed images of the working surface captured by the two or more cameras and capable of converting the images captured by the two or more cameras into a three dimensional image.
Abstract:
There are provided methods and a system for visually representing a rate of writing a plurality of identical Chinese characters for at least one user on a first portion of a display, with the visual representation having both a discrete movement component and a rate of activity component.
