Abstract:
Provided are transmission and reception apparatuses and methods used in a conditional access system that limitedly allows access to a terrestrial digital multimedia broadcasting (T-DMB) service. The transmission apparatus selects a single service component from a transmission frame which includes a main service channel (MSC) including sub-channels including one or more service components and a fast information channel (FIC) which transmits control information regarding the main service channel to insert an entitlement management message (EMM) that is used to grant or update the entitlement on the DMB service to the selected single service component, and provides location information regarding the selected single service component to the fast information channel.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for simply generating counter block values without additionally transmitting the counter block values. The method for generating a counter block value required by a scrambler or a descrambler includes the steps of : a) setting up a counter of a message to a predetermined initial value, when a counter block to be scrambled or descrambled is in an initial part of the message; b) storing a Common Interleaved Frame (CIF) count value corresponding to the initial part of the message in a buffer, when the counter block to be scrambled or descrambled is in the initial part of the message; c) increasing the counter by a predetermined number; and d) generating the counter block value by using the CIF count value stored in the step b) and the counter increased in the step c).

The apparatus includes: an ensemble data analyzer for extracting ensemble configuration information, and hierarchically managing program data, respectively; a control word generator for generating a control word; a scrambler for scrambling a specific program from the ensemble data analyzer; a conditional access data coder for receiving subscriber and program information from outside, ensemble configuration information and the control word, and coding conditional access data; and an ensemble data multiplexer for creating ensemble data by multiplexing specific program data, non-scrambled program data, fast information group (FIG) data, and the conditional access data, correcting and adding parameters required for the conditional access in conformity to a broadcasting standard.
Abstract:
An apparatus and a method for inserting a multimedia stream into the DAB transport stream in order to provide a multimedia broadcasting service in the DAB transmission system is provided. The apparatus and method for inserting the multimedia stream inserts and transmits the multimedia stream, e.g., MPEG-2 stream into DAB transport stream, to thereby provide a multimedia broadcasting service without changing an organization of the conventional DAB transmission system.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus for splicing a terrestrial DMB signal. The apparatus includes: a first media data analyzing and correcting unit for analyzing a first media data which is a current broadcasted MPEG transport stream (TS), extracting first splicing information required for splicing, and correcting the first media data to be proper to a MPEG system standard after splicing; a second media data analyzing and correcting unit for analyzing a second media data, which is a MPEG TS to be inserted through splicing, extracting second splicing information required for splicing, and correcting the second media data to be proper to a MPEG system standard after splicing; and a stream multiplexing unit for selecting a stream of the corrected second media data to be inserted through splicing at a time of splicing while transmitting streams of the corrected first media data, and outputting the selected stream.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a method for controlling a bit rate in a digital audio broadcasting (DAB) system, an apparatus and a method for converting a media stream by using the same. The media stream conversion method includes the steps of: determining a data amount of an inputted moving picture transmission stream and calculating a stream length (STL) value; calculating a data amount to be outer coded for every interval of DAB transmission frames based on the STL vale; outer coding a data with a multiple size of a packet unit for every interval of the DAB transmission frames as maintaining the data amount according to the STL value on average; and reading the outer coded moving picture transmission stream as much as the data amount according to the STL value for every interval of the DAB transmission frames to configure the DAB transmission frames and outputting the moving picture transmission stream.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a media stream conversion apparatus and a method for providing a multimedia service in a digital audio broadcasting (DAB) transmission system. First, multimedia data stream based on a moving picture experts group-2 (MPEG-2) system is analyzed to transmit multimedia data following the MPEG-2 system standard. Then, with use of the analyzed information, the multimedia data stream is reconstructed as an ensemble transport interface (ETI) frame in compliance with the ETI frame transport standard. The ETI frames are then converted into a DAB data stream, thereby providing a multimedia service in a DAB transmission system.
