The provider of the media file is charged for the playing of the media file to the caller.

A method for providing directory assistance includes receiving a communication from a requester for a business listing and retrieving at least one first listing in response. At least one signal indicative of the status of the listing retrieved is received, and if negative, such status is conveyed to the requester. A second option is then offered to the requester, where the second option offered to the requester is for a second listing related to a same category of business as the first listing.

A method for sending a targeted advertising campaign to a plurality of mobile phone devices, comprises the step of receiving geographic information relating to geographic location of mobile phone devices, wherein the information is collected from a plurality of corresponding mobile service providers. The method includes the step of maintaining a subscriber database that contains contact information relating to a plurality of subscribers. The system interacts with an advertiser so as to receive advertising content intended for targeted mobile phone devices. Furthermore, the system communicates the advertising content to the targeted mobile phone devices that are located within a specified distance from a location specified by the advertiser.

The present invention provides a system and method for consistent identification and refinement of registered users and their preferences to create detailed profiles. These profiles are augmented by the information that the users input, import or access via a web application and/or associated desktop client that also monitors and captures users' primary data and secondary metadata on the data the users input, and captures various levels of indexing and or metadata on data that users are looking for. The aggregation of data may be captured in time dependent models describing the interest of users and groups of users over time.

A method for facilitating VoIP communication between VoIP providers. First and second VoIP service providers are registered with a VoIP communication system, which generates a table of registered VoIP subscribers from the first and second VoIP service providers. The information from the table is applied to a call generated from a subscriber on the first VoIP service provider, such that if the desired party is a subscriber to the second VoIP service provider as noted in the table, the call generated from the subscriber on the first VoIP service provider is sent to the desired party as a packet switched call.

A method for enhanced commercial activities to a mobile device user includes providing a user with an application for use on a mobile wireless device and receiving an incoming communication from the wireless device via the application at an enhanced services platform of a directory assistance center. Stored account information, associated with the user is retrieved and a coded information is received from the wireless device, where the coded information is generated by the application based on input uploaded onto the wireless device by the user obtained from any one of the group selected from a product advertisement, a product price tag and digital image of a product. The coded information is parsed at the enhanced services platform, options are retrieved related to a product corresponding to the coded information and the user is provided with options relating to the product.

An enhanced directory assistance system includes a database for storing at least one subscriber emergency profile. The subscriber emergency profile has one or more instructions to be carried out in the case of an emergency and also has an identifier for identifying a mobile device of a corresponding subscriber. An operator terminal receives an incoming communication from one or more callers from the mobile device of the subscriber, such that when the communication is received, the operator terminal recalls the subscriber emergency profile and carries out the one or more instructions.

An enhanced service platform has an interface (25) for receiving communications from a user requesting desired data. An automated response module (40) parses the communication and retrieves the desired data. The enhanced service platform arranges the desired data into a response message that is sent to the user, where the response message includes an embeded code corresponding to a link allowing the user to re-contact the enhanced platform. An operator assistence module (35) receives communications from the user initiated via the link to provide further assitance regarding user's request.

A platform for providing mobile services maintains a network module for communicating with at least one mobile network and an MVNO module for communication with at least two MVNO service providers. When a user contacts the platform and receives mobile services including MVNO services from at least two different MVNO service providers, the platform is configured to store a profile generated by the user for storing events where the occurrence of the event causes the platform to switch the user's MVNO service provider from a first MVNO service provider to a second MVNO service provider.
