Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for paging a wireless terminal in a wireless communications system which can reduce standby-mode power consumption. SOLUTION: A minimally encoded quick paging channel is established over which short, quick paging messages 30 are transmitted during one of a set of quick paging slots. The quick paging message indicates that a communication request has been received, and that the receiving communication terminals should process a highly encoded full paging channel over which more detailed and full paging messages 32 are transmitted during the next full paging slot. A terminal monitors a full-paging channel only after a quick page message has been received on the quick paging channel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system for handoff, in a broadcast communication system. SOLUTION: A subscriber assisted handoff is difficult to be practical in a broadcast communication system due to, for example, a high signaling load, or a difficulty in synchronizing the broadcast transmission. Meanwhile, the small number of broadcast channels enables a subscriber station to autonomously perform handoff. To streamline the autonomous handoff decision process, rules for transitioning among several distinct sets of pilot identifiers are defined. To fully integrate broadcast services with the services provided by the cellular telephone systems in a subscriber environment, methods for various handoff scenarios are analyzed. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for two or more transmitters to share a single code division multiplex (CDM) system, and code division multiple access (CDMA) system. SOLUTION: A set of orthogonal channelizing codes is generated, and each transmitter is allocated the orthogonal channelizing codes and pseudonoise polynomials in a predetermined manner. The transmitters channelize each user signal using an orthogonal channelizing code, and spread each user signal using a pseudonoise spreading code. Each transmitter employs the same PN (pseudonoise) spreading codes and time offsets. No one orthogonal channelizing code is assigned to more than two transmitters during the time period in which they are sharing a CDM channel. The spread signals are summed at each transmitter prior transmission as a composite signal. The offsets are time-precorrected to ensure time alignment at the receivers. The frequencies of signals are precorrected to ensure frequency alignment at the receivers. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for communicating a frame of information according to a discontinuous transmit format. SOLUTION: The method transmits eighth rate speech or data frames by employing transmit gating and energy scaling which simultaneously reduces the battery usage of a variable rate wireless communication device 50, increases the capacity of the reverse link, and provides reliable communication of the eighth rate frames. Four methods are presented for transmitting an eighth rate data frame in which half of the frame is gated out and the remaining data is transmitted at nominal transmission energy to accomplish the goals. In addition, a power control system identifies forward link power control bits that have been gated out by the remote station 50 and inhibits adjustment of the transmission energy in response to that identification. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system having solved a problem, wherein since respective spread signals output by a spreading system is based on two or more data signals, when using such a spreading system, several separation processes of the data signals must be performed before spreading, but the complexity of the spreading system is increased, when a separation processing operation increases the complexity of the data signal, and a desired operation cannot be attained. SOLUTION: A spreading system spreads two data signals. The system produces a filtered signal, based on one of the data signals and an output signal that is based on both of the data signals. In one example, a spreading system is used to perform QPSK spreading of two data signals, the QPSK spreading actually including separation processing of the two data signals. Such a separation control can include a filtering and/or a gain control. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that since each spread signal output by a spreading system may be based on more than one data signal, any separate processing of the data signals must be performed before spreading when existing spreading systems are used, but in a case where the separate processing operation increases the complexity of the data signal, the resulting increase in the complexity of the spreading system that may be required may render the desired implementation impracticable. SOLUTION: Two data signals are spread. The system produces a filtered signal that is based on one of the data signals and an output signal that is based on both of the data signals. In one example, a spreading system is used to perform QPSK spreading of two data signals, including separate processing of the two data signals, in a practical manner. Such separate control may include filtering and/or gain control. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem of associative processing between paging slots requiring extremely large amounts of time and signal processing sources thus requiring extremely large amounts of electric power to complete the processing. SOLUTION: A method and a system for paging a wireless terminal in a wireless communication system reduce electric power consumption. A minimally encoded quick paging channel is established in its short state, and a quick paging message 30 is transmitted between slots of one set of quick paging slots. The quick paging message indicates that a communication request is received, that a receiving communication terminal is highly encoded, and that a more detailed full paging channel is processed, and a full paging message 32 is transmitted between the subsequent full paging slots. The terminal monitors the full paging channel only after the quick paging message is received on the quick paging channel. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
