PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for processing forward link only (FLO) messages.SOLUTION: A device for processing forward link only (FLO) wireless messages receives an FLO message and processes the FLO message including a header, an 8-bit FLO information block field, a 7-bit FLO count, an RF channel identifier, a transmit mode indicator, an outer code rate, and a stream identifier.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and a system capable of transmitting information by reducing an error by using a radio channel that is liable to generate the error. SOLUTION: The method for transmitting information includes steps for: determining the stream length information of at least one transmitted data stream; and making a system parameter message associated with the stream length information. The system parameter message including the associated stream length information is transmitted separately from the data stream. This process accelerates the reverse multiplexing of an individual stream and processes of the stream data even if one or more individual streams are erroneously received. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the technology for reducing transmission errors in a method and a system for transmitting information. SOLUTION: There are provided a means for determining stream length information for at least one data stream to be transmitted and a means for associating the stream length information with a system parameter message. The system parameter message including the associated stream length information is transmitted separately from the data stream. This process facilitates de-multiplexing of individual streams and the processing of stream data even if one or more individual streams are received in error. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect errors and recover data while minimizing the impact on device resources such as power consumption.SOLUTION: It is attempted to receive a subset of an initial amount of code packets, which should be at least k(1+ε) packets, from a plurality of code packets transmitted during a contact window, where k represents the number of data packets encoded to produce the transmitted code packets and ε is initialized using an initial minimum value not smaller than zero. A method comprises detecting a trigger event that indicates a decode error associated with the subset of the initial amount of code packets, increasing ε from the initial minimum value based on the trigger event, and receiving one or more additional code packets during the contact window.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and system for determining sleep periods within a communications device configured to communicate via a network.SOLUTION: The method includes analyzing at least one of two or more data fields related to a data unit and determining device sleep periods based upon the analysis. The analysis includes determining whether or not particular MediaFLO Logical Channel (MLC) data is present within an overhead information symbols channel. If MLC data is not present, the device sleeps for a predetermined amount of time.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus to improve error resilience by generating a directory including header information. SOLUTION: This invention relates to a method and an apparatus to improve error resilience in processing a multimedia bitstream. According to the method 300, a directory of header information is generated for a multimedia bitstream (S315). Directory information includes packet header information associated with the multimedia bitstream. The directory information may be transmitted to a receiver along with the multimedia bitstream (S320). A receiver of the multimedia bitstream and the directory can utilize the header information to identify and locate packets within the received bitstream and subsequent to erroneous data. By identifying and locating packets that may otherwise be discarded, the receiver may be able to improve error recovery and decoding of multimedia data. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods and systems for resizing multimedia content on the basis of quality and rate information.SOLUTION: Encoder modules associate their respective segments of data with quality and rate information and send at least the quality and rate information to a multiplex module. The multiplex module determines whether the segments of data that encoder modules desire to include in the current superframe fit within the available bandwidth of a transmission channel. If the multiplex module determines the plurality of segments of data do not fit within the available bandwidth, the multiplex module selects the segments to be resized on the basis of the quality and rate information.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system to distribute content to a device on a data network that supports multiple content packagers and customer service entities in a flexible manner.SOLUTION: A flexible system for distributing content to a device involves associating a set of packages with a provider, associating a set of tiers with a package, associating a set of channels with a tier, and allowing subscription to a package of services associated with the provider, where a channel is a view of a service, the view based on the provider associated with the service.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a wireless communications device to rapidly acquire media logical channels and access any information (e.g., a decryption key) required to receive the service.SOLUTION: A wireless broadcast system includes a transmitter for broadcasting to a wireless communications device. The transmitter receives a plurality of streams on a logical channel, in which one of the streams contains signaling. The transmitter arranges the streams such that the stream containing the signaling is broadcasted after the other streams on the logical channel. The wireless communications device receives the streams broadcasted on a logical channel broadcasted in a frame, and acquires the logical channel during the broadcast of the frame in response to a prompt received during the broadcast of the same frame.
