Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide group communication services for providing group communication services beyond a traditional boundary of a group communication system. SOLUTION: Each of a plurality of communication devices converts information signals into data packets suitable for transmission through a data network, such as the Internet. The data packets are transmitted through the data network to a communication manager. The communication manager acts as a configurable switch, allowing communication from any communication device to be routed to the plurality of communication devices. The communication manager further allows users of other communication systems and devices to participate in group communication with each other. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method for adaptively bundling media frames in a data packet for transmission in a wireless data network. SOLUTION: When a wireless device is ready to transmit an audio communication, a message is sent from the wireless device to a communication server. The communication server checks for network usage conditions and adaptively determines the bundling factor for the audio communication. The bundling factor is transmitted to the wireless device, and the wireless device bundles media frames into a data packet, in accordance with the bundling factor. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for terminating a member from a group call in a group communication network. SOLUTION: A client receives an indication from a user who wishes to terminate participation in the group communication network and sends a request to terminate the user from the group call to a server. Further, the server receives the request to terminate the user from the group call, terminates the user from the group call, and sends a response indicating that the user is terminated from the group call to the client. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide techniques of a group communication net that minimize the latency.SOLUTION: There is provided a push-to-talk communication device to participate in a group communication net. A processor converts information signals into packet data suitable for transmission over a distributed network. The processor also has identification information, and updates its identification information when its current identification information has or is about to change. The processor then transmits its new identification information to the controller. The push-to-talk communication device also comprises a user activated mechanism to activate a transmitter when a user of the communication device wishes to transmit packet data to the controller.

Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and a method for achieving a group communication service by using a standard Internet protocol in an existing communication system. SOLUTION: A group communication network 100 includes: a controller 104 that controls the group communication network 100. A push-to-talk communication devices 108, 112 and 116 include interfaces. The push-to-talk communication devices 108, 112, and 116 have transmitters for transmitting packet data to the controller via a first channel. A receiver receives the packet data from the controller via a second channel. The push-to-talk communication devices 108, 112 and 116 have user activated mechanisms for activating the transmitters when a user of the communication device wants to transmit the packet data to the controller. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for reducing both of an apparent PTT (push-to-talk) wait time experienced by a transmitter and a whole time necessary to establish the traffic channels of participating mobile stations again without having an adverse effect on system capacity, service life of a client's battery, and other resources. SOLUTION: A method and apparatus for terminating a member from a group call in a group communication network includes a step of receiving a direction from a user who wants to terminate participation in the group communication network and to transmit to a server a request to terminate a user's participation from the group call. Further, the method and apparatus includes the step that the server receives the request to terminate the user from the group call, terminates the user from the group call, and transmits the response to the effect that the user has been terminated from the group call. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for adding a new member to an active group call in a group communication network. SOLUTION: A member list is received from a user and then a request is sent to a server to add the member list to an active group call (1304). It is announced to each member in the member list that one has been added to the group call (1312). When an acknowledgement is received from a member who wishes to participate in the group call (1314), medium is forwarded to the member (1314). In addition, the actual total dormant-wakeup time and latency can be markedly reduced by exchanging group call signaling, even when mobile stations are dormant and no traffic channel is active.
