Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, a method, and a computer program for delivering services to wireless communication devices. SOLUTION: A system tailors services based on the capability of a wireless device and services subscribed by a user. A server or other computer device receives the wireless device capability data or "flags" indicating the capability of the device to access data or download and receive applications provided over a network. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system allowing a navigation device to receive destinations.SOLUTION: A navigation device receives a destination location to automatically calculate a route to the destination location over a wireless network. The destination location may be generated by a third party at a remote computer or wireless device. The destination location may be entered into the remote computer or wireless device, or may be automatically generated by the device. The destination location is transmitted from the remote computer or wireless device to the navigation device. Once received, a user of the navigation device may have the option of accepting or rejecting the destination location. The navigation device then uses the destination location to calculate a route which is communicated to the user with minimal or no user interaction. Multiple destinations may be transmitted to the navigation device, thus allowing advanced programming of an entire trip.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mechanism for providing an efficient method of issuing an invoice to a user of a communication system with respect to a system resource having been consumed, the method, and a product.SOLUTION: A user may incur a one-time charge for downloading a desired application program, or may be charged a download fee plus a recurring monthly fee for having continual access to the program and any updates to the program. Further, a fee might also be charged for each time the application is used. These fees are recorded as debits and transferred to an invoicing location where an invoice reflecting the debits is constructed. For example, the debits may include fees for wireless service access, Internet service access, download application programs, data, multimedia services, or other fees.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and method for efficiently updating the versions of stored datasets on a wireless device. SOLUTION: A wireless device has a resident dataset version summary file that identifies the version of each resident dataset, and upon the wireless device attempting (80) to communicate with a download server, the wireless device compares the version of each specific resident dataset listed in the resident dataset version summary file with the version of downloadable datasets resident on the download server to thereby determine (90) if the version of a wireless device resident dataset is different from the versions of a download server resident dataset. If the download server resident dataset is more recent, the wireless device can download (92) it to overwrite the wireless device resident dataset. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for a radio service provider that with a single subscription account, provides a startup of an application by a subscriber who includes a plurality of radio communication apparatuses. SOLUTION: The subscriber is managed with a subscriber table, and a user 1 identified with user accountant information 202 gains access to an application of a product 2 from an optional one of a plurality of radio communication apparatuses (apparatus 1, apparatus 3); however, only a startup of one application is permitted at a time for each subscription account. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for processing interactive screens for a wireless device. SOLUTION: The method includes receiving, from the wireless device, a download request for content. The method further includes determining whether the wireless device has an interactive screen associated with the content. If it is determined that the wireless device has the interactive screen associated with the content, the method further includes transmitting the content to the wireless device without transmitting the interactive screen. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an interactive screen on a wireless device for interacting with a server. SOLUTION: An interactive screen, such as an end-user license agreement or verification form, is displayed on the graphic display 13 of a wireless device 12 when the wireless device connects to a network server on a wireless network and attempts to access or download software applications and data. A user of the wireless device 12 then positively interacts with the interactive screen in order to access or download a software application or data from the network server. The interactive screen can be transmitted from the network server, where the wireless device seeks to access or download an application or data, or can be transmitted from another server to the wireless device 12. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide safe application distribution and execution in a wireless environment. SOLUTION: The present invention provides safe and secure application distribution and execution by providing systems and methods that test an application to ensure that it satisfies predetermined criteria associated with the environment in which it will execute. Furthermore, by using rules and permission lists, application removal, and a modification detection technique, such as digital signatures, the present invention provides mechanisms to safely distribute and execute tested, or untested, applications by determining whether the application has been modified, determining if it has permission to execute in a given wireless device environment, and removing the application.
