Abstract:
Example methods, apparatuses, and articles of manufacture are disclosed herein that may be utilized to facilitate or otherwise support RF ranging-assisted local motion sensing based, at least in part, on measuring one or more characteristics of a range between communicating devices in one or more established RF links.
Abstract:
A method is provided for compensating for clock drift error and movement error of an access terminal. A forward link error is obtained that is attributable to at least a first error (e.g., clock drift error) component and a second error (e.g., movement error) component. The first error component and the second error component are estimated based on the obtained forward link error. A receive clock of the access terminal is compensated based on a combination of the first error component and the second error component. A transmit clock of the access terminal is compensated based on a difference between the first error component and the second error component. The forward link error may include a timing synchronization error between the access terminal and an access point as well as a frequency synchronization error between a forward link frequency and a baseband reference frequency.
Abstract:
Methods and systems for processing video data are described. A set of candidate motion vectors is selected from motion vectors associated with macroblocks in a first frame of video data and from motion vectors associated with macroblocks in a second frame of the video data. A statistical measure of the set is determined. The statistical measure defines a motion vector for a macroblock of interest in the second frame.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are disclosed for performing elastic multiplexing for shared control channels in a wireless device in a wireless communication system. The present work includes, but is not limited to, phase feedback for closed- loop transmit diversity (CL-TD) in mobile wireless communication systems. The method comprises the steps of : identifying a potential scheduling conflict before the potential scheduling conflict occurs and deferring control channel signaling a minimum amount to resolve the potential scheduling conflict. The present work discloses an elastic multiplexing processor that is cable of carrying out the elastic multiplexing process.
Abstract:
Techniques for encoding a phase adjustment for a feedback signal in a closed-loop transmit diversity system. In an aspect, codewords for the phase adjustments are chosen according to a variable-length prefix code. The prefix code aspect allows the codewords to be transmitted in sequence on the feedback channel without being separated by "commas" or demarcation symbols. The variable-length aspect provides a variety of coarse and fine phase adjustment quantization step sizes to accommodate multiple different channel scenarios. In an aspect, the length of the codewords may be further optimized according to the Huffman encoding algorithm.

Abstract:
In general techniques are described for efficient conditional flow control (CFC) compilation. An apparatus comprising a processor executing a compiler that includes at least one translation module may perform these techniques. The translation module translates a first set of high-level (HL) CFC software to a functionally equivalent but different second set of HL CFC software instructions. The compiler then compiles the first and second sets of high-level CFC software instructions to respective first and second sets of low-level (LL) CFC software instructions. An evaluation module of the compiler evaluates the first and second sets of LL CFC software instructions to determine which of the first and second sets of the low-level CFC software instructions is more efficient as measured in terms of at least one execution metric and outputs the one of the first and second low-level CFC software instructions determined to be most efficient.
Abstract:
A repeated integral images method filters image data in only two passes, e.g., the first pass filters horizontal rows of pixels and a second pass filters vertical columns of pixels, or in a single pass. The filter performs at least one infinite impulse response (IIR) filter and at least one finite impulse response (FIR) filter on the image data. A plurality of IIR filters and FIR filters maybe performed to approximate a Gaussian filter. By minimizing the number of passes, the data flow between the processing unit and the storage unit is greatly reduced compared to conventional repeated integral images method thereby improving computation time.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for control signaling in a communication system using continuous valued measurement and feedback are disclosed. The control signaling utilizes delta-sigma modulation where a measured phase or amplitude of a received signal is used to determine a difference signal by subtracting a previously quantized integrated difference signal from the current measurement signal, and then integrating the difference signal. The integrated difference signal is quantized and transmitted to the device originating the received signal as feedback control signaling. The device originating the received signal may then filter the control signaling to obtain the desired control information used to adjust or control the transmission of the signal transmitted by the device. By utilizing delta-sigma modulation, a greater degree of control signaling precision is achieved when controlling variables such as phase or amplitude of the transmitted signals, thereby achieving improved communication system performance.
Abstract:
Attributes of access terminals are employed in determining durations for erasure sequences. Transmissions from access terminals are analyzed to determine different attributes and based at least on these attributes traffic models are estimated. Those terminals whose traffic models tend towards more frequent occurrences of longer erasures are assigned longer erasure durations to improve performance in erasure sequence detection.
