Abstract: Impedance adjusting elements for a microstrip circuit employing a signal transmission line (6) connected to an active circuit element and at least one impedance matching element, such as a parallel-connected open-ended stub (11), are formed of one or more wire elements (21,22) arranged in proximity to the transmission line (6) and the open-ended stub (11) and connected at one end to a ground plane on a side of a substrate opposite to the transmission line (6). The free ends of the wire elements (21, 22) can be freely moved, thereby to adjust the spacing of the wire elements from the signal transmission line (6) and open-ended stub (11) and adjust the angle of intersection of the wire elements and the signal transmission line and open-ended stub, so that the effective impedances of the circuit can be controlled.

Abstract: Apparatus for receiving super high frequency signals comprises an outdoor unit (2) which includes a converter (8) for converting super high frequency signals received by an antenna (1) to ultra high frequency signals, a local oscillator (9L, 9H) for generating a local signal supplied to the converter (8), a switch (14) for switching the frequency of the local signal, and a detecting circuit (15) for detecting an operating voltage supplied to the outdoor unit (2) and the value of which is changed according to a band range of the super high frequency signals, the output of the detecting circuit (15) controlling the switch (14); an indoor unit (4) which includes a demodulator (23) for generating the operating vottage; and a coaxial cable (3) for supplying the ultra high frequency signals from the outdoor unit (2) to the indoor unit (4) and also supplying the operating voltage from the indoor unit (4) to the outdoor unit (2).

Abstract: An innovative but easy to use on-line guide is provided to provide the user of a multiple channel television broadcast system a wealth of programming information in a simple format that is easy to understand. The guide enables the user to easily select a particular program to watch. In particular, when the guide is presented to the user, the guide covers only a portion of the actual television screen or display. The remaining portion of the television screen continues to broadcast the audio and video of the currently selected program. As a user scans through the guide and moves the pointer from one station to another, the system responds by automatically tuning to the channel pointed to by the pointer and provides the audio and displays the video in the portion of the screen not covered by the guide. Furthermore, a written description of the program currently broadcasted on a station that the cursor currently points to is also shown. In addition, the system provides an innovative mechanism to enable the user to scan program information of channels that the user has designated as his favorite channels. In another embodiment, the present invention presents a program list that is oriented according to the program instead of the channel.
