Abstract: The present disclosure generally relates to optical systems for surgical procedures, and more particularly, to optical relay systems for visualization systems used during ophthalmic microsurgical procedures. The optical systems described herein provide improved ergonomics for surgeons, as such systems facilitate a low-height microscope camera that enables a surgeon to see over the camera to a display screen or other monitor placed in an ergonomically advantageous position for ophthalmic procedures. Such optical systems also provide improved performance, as the total magnification of the optical head may be split between multiple lens barrels, thereby creating high resolution images that enables surgeons to see ophthalmic anatomies more clearly. Even further, such optical systems proffer improved manufacturability, with reduced weight and manufacturing cost, as the lens barrels may have fixed focal lengths for utilization with digital magnification mechanisms.

Abstract: The present disclosure relates to visualization systems system for surgical procedures, and more specifically, to an imaging and display support system for ophthalmic visualization systems. The optical system described herein provide improved ergonomics for surgeons, as such systems incorporate an optical head and a corresponding display on a single support arm to provide surgeons a direct and unobstructed view of the corresponding display screen placed in an ergonomically advantageous position for ophthalmic procedures. Such systems also maintain the corresponding display screen in the aforementioned in an ergonomically advantageous position even if the optical head of the system is moved or rotated during ophthalmic procedures without the need for further adjustments by the surgeon or surgical staff.

Abstract: An ophthalmic viewing device is provided. The ophthalmic viewing device includes a mounting feature, an upper arm, a lower arm, a first movable mirror, a second mirror, and a lens assembly having a lens frame. When the ophthalmic viewing device is in a first configuration, the movable mirror and the lens frame are outside an on-axis optical path between a visualization device and an eye being visualized. When the ophthalmic viewing device is in a second configuration, the first mirror, the second mirror, and the lens frame are configured to redirect the optical path between the patient's eye and the visualization device to an off-axis optical path that is angled from the eye relative to the on-axis optical path.

Abstract: An electronic control unit (ECU) for a digital optical system includes a processor, a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium, and a translation engine. The performance settings include a focus-of-interest setting. Execution of the instructions by the processor causes the processor to receive voice commands from a user via a microphone during an ophthalmic procedure performed using the digital optical system. The voice commands are processed through the translation engine to convert the voice commands into a machine-readable instruction set. The processor adjusts the performance settings using the instruction set to change a state of the digital optical system, including transmitting display control signals to the display screen to overlay a reference grid onto a displayed digital image of a patient's eye. The focus-of-interest setting corresponds to a user-selected grid area of the reference grid.

Abstract: Particular embodiments disclosed herein provide operating equipment including a base for resting on a floor. A boom extends upwardly from a central base and extends outwardly from the central base in a forward direction. A gantry is suspended from the boom and has three or more degrees of freedom. A surgical instrument, such as a surgical microscope, is mounted to the gantry. One or more electrical components are mounted in the central base and are configured to support performing ophthalmic surgery, such as a computing device and vacuum pump. A surgical chair mounts to an arcuate track in a base and is slidable along the track. The surgical chair has adjustable arms secured thereto for holding surgical equipment. A patient bed incorporates a storage device and a coupler that engages a corresponding coupler coupled to a computing device in the base for downloading patient data from the storage device.
