Abstract:
A joint has a first leaf having an inner gear and a second leaf having an external gear meshing with the inner gear. A driving wedge-shaped disk is non-rotatably attached to a shaft and rotatably received between the leaves. A block with an outer wedge-shaped resistant surface is formed on the driving wedge-shaped disk. At least one driven wedge-shaped segment is mounted around the driving wedge-shaped disk. Each segment has an inner wedge-shaped surface to mate with the outer wedge-shaped resistant surface of block. A wedge arrangement is arranged between a supporting base on the disk and each segment to raise the segment as the driving wedge-shaped disk is rotated with the shaft. Accordingly, the angle between the first leaf and the second leaf can be adjusted. In addition, the shaking of the second leaf with respect to the first leaf can be prevented.
Abstract:
Blends of two or more polyethylenes are made by reacting ethylene with an oligomerization catalyst that forms &agr;-olefins, and two polymerization catalysts, one of which under the process conditions copolymerizes ethylene and &agr;-olefins, and the other of which under process conditions does not readily copolymerize ethylene and &agr;-olefins. The blends may have improved physical properties and/or processing characteristics.
Abstract:
Polymers are produced using transition metal complexes that have sites capable of binding a Lewis acid in close proximity to the metal center.

A power stapler includes a body with a barrel and a handle is connected to the body by a connection plate. The handle has an open bottom end and an end member is engaged with the open bottom end. A connection portion extends from the handle and a magazine is connected between the connection portion and the barrel. The connection portion has a groove for receiving an L-shaped wrench. A safety device is connected to the barrel and has a collar which is threadedly connected to a base member of the safety device so that the collar can be rotated to adjust a distance between the collar and the object.
Abstract:
Stable, concentrated solutions of high-molecular weight polyaniline using amines as gel inhibitors. Certain amine compounds (gel inhibitors) are used to form highly concentrated, stable solutions of the emeraldine base form of polyaniline in numerous organic solvents from which coatings, films and fibers are readily prepared without problems associated with rapid gelation which occurs when concentrated solutions are attempted without the use of the gel inhibitors of the present invention. Tertiary amines are used to solubilize low-molecular weight fractions (Mw 20 wt. %) polyaniline solutions, while primary and secondary amines are used to produce solutions having 15-40 wt % of high-molecular weight polyaniline [Mw≧120,000, Mn≧30,000]. Concentrated solutions of polyaniline co-polymers or ring and/or nitrogen-substituted polyanilines may also be prepared.

Abstract:
An absorbent material comprising a mixture of (1) a plurality of absorbent gelling particles comprising a water-insoluble, water-swellable polymer, and (2) an absorbent property modification polymer reactive with at least one component included in a urine. The mixture is made by (i) applying a solution containing an organic solvent, water and the absorbent property modification polymer onto the plurality of absorbent gelling particles, wherein the weight ratio of the organic solvent to the water is at least 50:50, and (ii) removing a portion of the organic solvent and water from the applied absorbent gelling particles. When a urine is applied to the absorbent material, the absorbent gelling particles are spontaneously connective through the absorbent property modification polymer. The absorbent material has at least one of the improved absorbent properties after swelling such as (1) liquid permeability, (2) porosity, (3) wet integrity, and (4) recovery property when subjected to external forces.
Abstract:
An improved process for the polymerization of cyclic ethers to polyethers using strong Bronsted acid catalysts is disclosed. The catalysts are fluorinated sulfonic acid containing polymers. The resulting polyethers are useful as monomers and in adhesives.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are processes for polymerizing ethylene, acyclic olefins, and/or selected cyclic olefins, and optionally selected olefinic esters or carboxylic acids, and other monomers. The polymerizations are catalyzed by selected transition metal compounds, and sometimes other co-catalysts. Since some of the polymerizations exhibit some characteristics of living polymerizations, block copolymers can be readily made. Many of the polymers produced are often novel, particularly in regard to their microstructure, which gives some of them unusual properties. Numerous novel catalysts are disclosed, as well as some novel processes for making them. The polymers made are useful as elastomers, molding resins, in adhesives, etc. Also described herein is the synthesis of linear .alpha.-olefins by the oligomerization of ethylene using as a catalyst system a combination a nickel compound having a selected .alpha.-diimine ligand and a selected Lewis or Bronsted acid, or by contacting selected .alpha.-diimine nickel complexes with ethylene.
