    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described for reducing overhead associated with a cyclic prefix (CP) by supporting dynamic determination of a CP length. For example, a user equipment (UE) may establish a wireless connection with a base station by receiving initial communications according to a numerology and a first CP configuration associated with a first CP length. The UE may determine a second CP length after establishing the wireless connection and may transmit an indication to the base station, indicating the second CP length. The base station may receive the indication and may transmit downlink signals according to a second CP configuration associated with the second CP length. The initial communications and the downlink signals may be associated with a same numerology or subcarrier spacing.

    Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for implementing a power harvesting protocol at a network entity and a channel engineering device (CED) of a wireless communication network. In some aspects, the network entity and the CED may implement a power harvesting protocol that includes power harvesting capabilities and configuration signaling to support power harvesting at the CED. The CED may provide a power harvesting capabilities message to the network entity that includes a parameter that indicates capabilities for power harvesting at the CED. The network entity may respond with a power harvesting configuration message to configure the CED for power harvesting. After configuration of the CED, the network entity may transmit dedicated and non-dedicated (or opportunistic) power harvesting signals to the CED for use by the CED for power harvesting. The dedicated and non-dedicated power harvesting signals may be periodic or aperiodic.

Generally, the described techniques allow a channel engineering device (CED) to identify a suitable configuration for deflecting uplink transmissions from a user equipment (UE) to a base station. The base station may transmit control signaling to the CED indicating multiple configurations for deflecting uplink reference signals. The UE may then transmit the uplink reference signals to the CED, and the CED may deflect the uplink reference signals using the indicated configurations. The base station may receive the uplink reference signals from the UE via the CED, and the base station may perform measurements on the uplink reference signals. The base station may then identify a configuration for the CED to use to deflect subsequent transmissions from the UE to the base station based on the measurements, and the base station may transmit an indication of the configuration to the CED.

    Abstract: A method of encoding video data comprising: generating coefficients based on digital sample values of the video data; determining a spectral efficiency for a channel; determining a value n based on the spectral efficiency of the channel; generating coefficient vectors, wherein each of the coefficient vectors includes n of the coefficients; determining an amplitude value for a coefficient vector based on a mapping pattern, wherein for each respective allowed coefficient vector in a plurality of allowed coefficient vectors: the mapping pattern maps the respective allowed coefficient vector to a respective amplitude value in a plurality of amplitude values, and the respective amplitude value is adjacent in an n-dimensional space to at least one other amplitude value in the plurality of amplitude values that is adjacent to the respective amplitude value in a monotonic number line of the amplitude values, and modulating an analog signal based on the amplitude values.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. A base station may transmit a set of synchronization signals (SSs) with a first periodicity to a channel engineering device and one or more other wireless devices. The base station may transmit a message to configure the channel engineering device with one or more signaling directions and a second periodicity for the channel engineering device to transmit the set of SS, the second periodicity different from the first periodicity. The one or more signaling directions and the second periodicity may be configured for adjusting a coverage area of the set of SS after transmission from the base station. The base station may receive, from a user equipment (UE) or other wireless device, a second message that includes an indication of whether the set of SS were received by the UE directly from the base station or via the channel engineering device.

    Abstract: A device generates an estimated size of encoded versions of one or more pictures of video data prior to generating the encoded versions of the one or more pictures. A physical layer of a radio system of the device is configured to send a message to a wireless base station. The message indicates a size value based on the estimated size of the encoded versions of the one or more pictures. The physical layer of the radio system receives an uplink grant notification in response to the message. Based on the uplink grant notification, the physical layer of the radio system sends packets to the wireless base station containing the encoded versions of the one or more pictures.
