Abstract:
DNA strand having an ability in biotechnological production of .alpha.-acetolactate decarboxylase is disclosed. The DNA strand is characterized in that it has a nucleotide sequence coding for a polypeptide whose amino acid sequence is substantially from A to B of FIG. 1 and which has .alpha.-acetolactate decarboxcylase activity. Also disclosed is a yeast which belongs to Saccharomyces cerevisiae and which has been transformed by the DNA strand. The yeast is characterized by the face that its .alpha.-acetolactate producing ability is reduced, and will thus produce an alcoholic liquor such as beer which contains no or little diacetyls which have come from their precursor, namely .alpha.-acetolactate.
Abstract:
A deflection yoke for a cathode ray tube comprises a generally tubular core, a first deflection coil assembly including a pair of first deflection coils wound on the core and arranged in symmetrical relationship with each other about the longitudinal axis of the core and operable to deflect electron beams, traveling from an electron gun assembly towards a phosphor-coated screen region, in a horizontal direction, and a second deflection coil assembly generally toroidally wound on the core and operable to deflect the electron beams in a vertical direction. A pair of magnetic members are mounted on the core in opposition to each other and positioned on the imaginary horizontal axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the core while spaced 180.degree. from each other about the longitudinal axis of the core. Each of the magnetic members is constituted by a generally elongated body having a pair of legs protruding from the elongated body which legs are spaced from each other in a vertical direction. A magnetizing member for each magnetic member is also provided for developing predetermined poles in the legs of each of the magnetic members.
Abstract:

C. and which comprises 95.0 to 99.995 mol % of an ethylene unit, 0.005 to 2 mol % of a comonomer unit represented by the formula (I) ##STR1## wherein Ar is ##STR2## R.sub.1 is an alkylene group having 1 or 2 carbon atoms, each of R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 is a hydrogen atom, or a straight-chain or a side-chain alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and 0 to 3 mol % of an ethylenic unsaturated monomer unit, said ethylene copolymer having a density of 0.910 to 0.940 g/cm.sup.3 and a melt index of 0.05 to 100 g/10 minutes.
Abstract:
A thermal printhead driving system of the present invention is to be applied to the case in which a print line is divided into two or more blocks and the print line is driven block by block from one end to the other in sequence. In accordance with the present driving system, a dot of interest is monitored as to whether it is a dot at each end of a block or not, and this information is used to differently define an address which is used to access a predetermined table of driving energy levels. In the preferred embodiment, the address is so defined to access an increased energy level if the dot of interest is an end dot of a block thereby providing an increasing level of driving energy to the end dot, so that a printed image high in quality can be obtained even with a block driving scheme.
Abstract:
A photo and radiation sensitive-organopolymeric material having at least one Si--Si).sub.n bond, wherein n is an integer of from 1 to 5 has a good resistance to dry etching, a good adhesion and a good heat resistance and is useful for finer patterning with a good resolution.
Abstract:
A hydrocracking catalyst composition comprising metals of Group VIb and Group VIII deposited on a carrier material consisting of Y-zeolite and one or more members of the group consisting of alumina/zinc oxide, alumina/boria and alumina/silica/magnesia, the greater part of the pores of said composition having a diameter of 70-110 .ANG. even when measured by nitrogen adsorption method or by means of a porosimeter under pressure. The catalyst composition having the pores as mentioned above is made by using, as an alumina component of the carrier material, an alumina cake obtained from an amorphous alumina hydrate slurry containing a pseudoboehmite having a crystal size grown in the range of 40 to 80 .ANG..
Abstract:
Agitation shafts provided with agitation vanes at lower portions thereof are fixed rotatably around a support cylinder to form a soft ground hardening machine. A direction control unit is provided at a lower portion of the support cylinder so as to control the direction in which the machine is inserted into and withdrawn from the soft ground. In a method of hardening the soft ground by using this machine, the direction in which the machine is inserted into and withdrawn from the soft ground is controlled as the direction in which the machine is being inserted into or withdrawn from the soft ground is measured.
Abstract:
A switching voltage regulator (86) is controlled to produce a low output voltage when the power is first turned on and subsequently to produce a high output voltage after a predetermined length of time has elapsed, thereby eliminating overloads due to initial surge currents.
Abstract:
A paper sheet recognition apparatus that recognizes a paper sheet based on optical characteristics of the paper sheet is proposed. The paper sheet recognition apparatus includes at least one light source that emits a light toward the paper sheet; a light-guiding member that receives any of reflected lights reflected from plural regions on the paper sheet and transmitted lights that have passed through plural regions on the paper sheet because of emission of the light on the paper sheet from the light source, condenses the received lights, and outputs the condensed light from a light outputting section; an optical processing unit that generates spectral distribution from the condensed light output from the light outputting section of the light-guiding member; and a recognition processing unit that recognizes the paper sheet based on a feature of the spectral distribution generated by the optical processing unit.
Abstract:
The invention protects an application body as well as reducing a remaining amount of a liquid cosmetic. A bag-like container accommodates liquid cosmetic therein and provides an opening neck portion to communicate the inner side and the outer side thereof, a pipe portion in the opening neck portion extends to the bag portion bottom side. The pipe portion peripheral surface has an opening for the liquid cosmetic going into an internal portion. An application body in a lid portion goes into the pipe portion by installing the lid portion to the opening neck portion to reach the opening position. If a user pushes and squeezes the bag portion, the liquid cosmetic goes into the pipe portion through the opening, the application body dips into the liquid cosmetic to run short of the liquid cosmetic and to protect the application body by the pipe.
