    Abstract: An improved bar screen is disclosed which has a plurality of ring bars and a plurality of scrapers mounted therebetween which are rockable away from the ring bars.     Abstract: Disk filter comprising a tank for the liquid to be filtered, a tubular shaft carrying, spaced in its longitudinal direction, filtering disks which consist of functionally independent, hollow filtering sectors communicating through holes made in the mantle of the tubular shaft and located at the tips of the sectors with the interior space of the tubular shaft, the different filtrates coming from the filtering sectors being removed from the different chambers with the aid of vacuum introduced into said interior space. One or more scraping blades is attached to the drum in position to scrape the inside surface of the screen as a motor turns the drum. A moist elastic food product is introduced into the space between the screen and the drum and subjected to pressure during operation causing the moisture to be pressed through the screen. The press can be used for increasing the solids content of hydrated vital wheat gluten from about 22 percent to about 30 percent.

    Abstract: The self-cleaning filter assembly includes a collecting tank for receiving a liquid, such as the dirty wash water from a car washing installation, containing suspended or dispersed substances to be removed. The dirty wash water passes through a filter cloth and an underlying layer of a porous, resilient material disposed about the outer periphery of a hollow, perforated drum which is rotatably mounted in the collecting tank. The filtered water passing through the filter material enters the interior of the drum through the drum perforations and is discharged therefrom through the open end of a perforated hollow shaft which serves as the axle for the drum. A roller biased into rolling engagement with the outer surface of the filter cloth presses or squeezes the resilient material, causing a portion of the filtered water retained in the resilient material to be forced back through the filter cloth and dislodge separated substances collected on the filter cloth. The back wash water containing the dislodged substances is collected and discharged from the collecting tank by a tray including a blade portion which is located adjacent the area of contact between the roller and the filter cloth and lightly rides on the outer surface of the filter cloth to "scrape" the wash water from the filter cloth.

    Abstract: A T connection including a body and a pair of aligned laterally extending projections form fluid passage means. An annular flange is formed on one of the lateral projections internally thereof and a flange is formed on the other lateral projection externally. A hollow annular filter member is positioned in the lateral projections and abuts the internal flange at one end and is closed off at the other end by the external flange on the other lateral projection. The filter member includes a core formed of generally trapezoidal or triangular shaped metal wire or strip material which has in the trapezoidal form two parallel surfaces joined by converging side surfaces. The strip material is either helically wound to form coils or formed by a plurality of rings which are longitudinally spaced a predetermined amount and a plurality of circumferentially spaced reinforcing ribs are secured to the periphery of the core.
