Abstract:
A motorcar with an openable hard top is of the type in which the roof (2) comprises a front portion (3) connected releasably to the upper cross-member of the windscreen (5) and a transparent rear portion (4) which is articulated about a horizontal transverse axis (6) to two side pillars (7) of the body. The roof (2) can be opened in known manner by being pivoted rearwardly about the said transverse axis (6) until it bears on the rear boot lid (10) which has two front arms (11) that extend upwards and are articulated to the body about the same horizontal transverse axis (6) about which the roof (2) is articulated. When the roof is in the closed position, the end edge (4a) of the transparent rear portion (4) of the roof (2) is situated at the same height as the bases of the two side pillars (7) of the body to which the roof (2) is articulated. The transparent rear portion (4) of the roof acts as a rear window when the roof is in the closed position, and has a curved profile such as to act as an anti-turbulence element with respect to the passengers when the roof is in the open position.

A motor vehicle has a folding roof which can be opened and lowered into a rear storage space. Partitioning of the rear storage space into a folding-top space and a residual luggage space is provided by a separating arrangement which includes a dimensionally stable covering element that can be shifted vertically from a use position into a non-use position when the folding top is stored. The covering element extends over a rear sub-length of the separating arrangement and can be displaced forwards into the non-use position shortening the length of the separating arrangement.
Abstract:
A storage structure for convertible hardtop for effectively using a stored roof while no excessively large rear trunk is necessary. The storage structure is provided for storing a roof and a rear pillar of a convertible hardtop vehicle which has plural row forward-facing seats, in which the roof is substantially horizontally stored from the back side of a backrest of the most front seat in a manner such that the roof bestrides a parting line between the rear pillar and a trunk lid of the vehicle, and the rear pillar is stored under the roof.

The invention concerns a roof (1) extending between the windscreen upper rim (2) and the top edge (3) of a bow (4) extended upwards. The roof (1) is in two parts (8, 9), the first part (8) located near the bow (4) being linked with the vehicle lateral part (10) by two articulated arms (11, 12) mobile between a position extending upwards wherein said roof first part (8) is located in front of the bow (4) and a tilted position towards the rear wherein said arms (11, 12) and said roof first part (8) are located in the rear trunk (5), the second roof part (9) being linked to the first part by means enabling the second roof part (9) to be moved onto the first part (8) when the arms (11, 12) are tilted.

A convertible top for an automotive vehicle is provided. This convertible top is coupled to the vehicle such that it moves between a raised operative position and a lowered storage position. When in the raised operative position, the convertible top covers the passenger compartment of the vehicle. When in the lowered storage position, the convertible top is stored in the rear seat area and is covered by a portion of the convertible top itself.

Method of functioning the retractable hard top system for convertible vehicles which implies splitting the ceiling in the middle (through the longitudinal axis of the vehicle), moving the rear window with the frame-like area around it on top of the trunk lid, opening the upper areas of the rear wings and folding compactly the remaining components of the roof inside the lateral areas of the trunk. This method significantly increases the usable volume of the luggage compartment and offers an easier access to the items carried in the trunk. Also, this method requires a less complex operation system which leads to less expensive manufacturing and maintenance costs.

A motor vehicle includes a body, a roof which is adjustable between a closed position and an opened position and has at least one front roof part and a rear roof part, two opposite side pillars, and two opposite rear pillars. The front roof part is connected rotatably to the two side pillars and the rear roof part is connected rotatably to the two rear pillars. The two side pillars and the two rear pillars are movably connected to the body. In the opened position of the roof, the rear roof part forms a folding top compartment lid, below which the front roof part, the two side pillars, and the two rear pillars are stowed.
