The methods include the use of a positive displacement reciprocating piston system having a catalyst delivery housing that contains a piston system. The piston system includes a top section, a bottom section, and a catalyst holding space between the top and bottom section such that the piston system is movable between a first and a second position to inject catalyst from the catalyst holding space into the reaction vessel when the piston system is in the second position and fill the catalyst holding space with catalyst from a catalyst feed supply when the piston system is in the first position.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a system for generating fumed silica particles for manufacturing of an optical fiber preform. The system includes a generator and a plurality of inlets connected with the generator. The generator includes a plurality of burners. The plurality of inlets include a first inlet, a second inlet, a third inlet and a fourth inlet. The first inlet provides passage for flow of a precursor material to the generator. The second inlet provides passage for flow of a first gas to the generator. The third inlet provides passage for flow of a second gas to the generator. The fourth inlet provides passage for flow of a carrier gas to the generator. The plurality of burners enables a chemical reaction between the precursor material, the first gas and the second gas that facilitates the generation of the fumed silica particles.

Abstract: A hydroformylation system for making aldehydes includes: (a) a primary reactor provided with catalyst feed, syngas feed and olefin feed adapted to convert the olefin and syngas to product aldehyde; (b) a first liquid vapor separator coupled to the primary reactor for receiving output therefrom, adapted to separate the product aldehyde into a crude aldehyde product stream and a vent stream containing syngas and unreacted olefin; (c) a vent reactor coupled to the first liquid vapor separator to receive the vent stream therefrom, the vent reactor also being coupled to the primary reactor which is configured to provide catalyst thereto, wherein the vent reactor is operative to convert unreacted olefin in the vent stream from the first liquid vapor separator to additional product aldehyde. A second liquid vapor separator is coupled to the vent reactor to receive output therefrom and adapted to separate the output from the vent reactor into a liquid recycle stream containing additional product aldehyde and catalyst as well as another vent stream, the second liquid vapor separator also being coupled to the primary reactor so as to provide the recycle stream thereto.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for preparing core-shell structured particle precursor under a co-precipitation reaction. In this method, by controlling the feeding of different types of anion compositions and/or cation compositions, and adjusting the pH to match with the species, precipitated particles are deposited to form a precipitated particle slurry, filtering, and drying the precipitated particle slurry to yield the particle precursor. The invention also provides a particle precursor which includes a core-shell structure. The shell is made of gradient anions and/or cations. Such particle precursor can be used to prepare cathode of lithium-ion battery.

Abstract: Methods and systems for temperature-controlled, on-site generation of peracids, namely peroxycarboxylic acids and peroxycarboxylic acid forming compositions are disclosed. In particular, methods for using an adjustable biocide formulator or generator system overcome the limitations of temperature on the kinetics of the peracid generation and/or peracid decomposition inside an adjustable biocide formulator or generator system. The methods include the controlling of the temperature of at least one raw starting material, namely water, to improve upon methods of on-site generation of peracids. The methods allow for the generation of user-selected chemistry without regard to the ambient temperatures of the raw starting materials and/or the biocide formulator or generator system.
