Abstract: A method, comprising receiving at least one sound at an electronic device. The at least one sound is enhanced for the at least one user based on a compound metric. The compound metric is calculated using at least two sound metrics selected from an engineering metric, a perceptual metric, and a physiological metric. The engineering metric comprises a difference between an output signal and a desired signal. At least one of the perceptual metric and the physiological metric is based at least in part on input sensed from the at least one user in response to the received at least one sound.

Abstract: An ear-wearable device is described that includes a plurality of modules that mate together forming a physical outer shell of the ear-wearable device. Each module from the plurality of modules is associated with a different, corresponding feature of the ear-wearable device and each module from the plurality of modules includes a respective physical portion that comprises a different, corresponding part of the outer shell. In addition, each module from the plurality of modules shares a physical interface with at least one other module from the plurality of modules.

Abstract: A computing system wirelessly receives data from an ear-wearable device and determines, based on the data received from the ear-wearable device, a current position of the ear-wearable device. Additionally, the computing system determines, based on the current position of the ear-wearable device and data regarding a golf course, golf advice data that provides a recommendation regarding play of the golf course. Furthermore, the computing system wirelessly sends audio data to the ear-wearable device. The audio data represents soundwaves of a vocalization of the golf advice data.

Abstract: Examples of devices, methods, systems, and machine readable media for reducing the burden of a master device of a second wireless connection by utilizing the channel map of a first wireless connection are provided. Since both the first and second wireless connections are located at nearly the same location, the “good channels” are very similar for both connections. Therefore a second wireless connection may take advantage of the channel assessment conducted by a first wireless connection in identifying channels by using one or more channels of the first wireless connection for communications in the second wireless connection.

Abstract: Disclosed herein, among other things, are systems and methods for a hearing device antenna. One aspect of the present subject matter includes a hearing device configured to be worn in an ear of a wearer to perform wireless communication. The hearing device includes a housing, hearing electronics within the housing, and an inverted F antenna or loop antenna disposed at least partially in the housing and configured for performing 2.4 GHz wireless communication. In various embodiments, at least a portion of the antenna protrudes from an exterior of the housing.

Abstract: An ear-worn electronic device comprises a plurality of EEG sensors configured to sense EEG signals from or proximate a wearer's ear. At least one processor is configured to detect, during a baseline period of no wearer movement, EEG signals from the EEG sensors, and detect, during each of a plurality of candidate control movements by the wearer, EEG signals from the EEG sensors. The at least one processor is also configured to compute, using the EEG signals, discriminability metrics for the candidate control movements and the baseline period, the discriminability metrics indicating how discriminable neural signals associated with the candidate control movements and the baseline period are from one another. The at least one processor is further configured to select a subset of the candidate control movements using the discriminability metrics, each of the selected control movements defining a neural command for controlling the ear-worn electronic device by the wearer.

Abstract: A computing system receives sharing preference data. The sharing preference data indicate, for each respective health-related data type of a plurality of health-related data types: (i) whether a user of an ear-wearable device allows sharing of health-related data belonging to the respective health-related data type, and (ii) if the user of the ear-wearable device allows sharing of health-related data belonging to the respective health-related data type, a set of one or more users allowed by the user of the ear-wearable device to access the health-related data belonging to the respective health-related data type.

Abstract: A system may obtain a set of features characterizing a segment of inertial measurement unit (IMU) data generated by an IMU of an ear-wearable device. The system may apply a machine learning model (MLM) that takes the features characterizing the segment of the IMU data as input. The system may determine, based on output values produced by the MLM, whether a user of the ear-wearable device has potentially been subject to physical abuse. The system may then perform an action in response to determining that the user of the ear-wearable device has potentially been subject to physical abuse.
